that's what state republican leaders would like to do, suspending the gas tax. state address. it's clear we have to go farther. and that's why working with legislative leadership. i'll be submitting a proposal to put money back in the pockets of californians to address rising gas prices. let's suspend the gas tax. stop using foreign oil and focus on energy independence policies that don't place new burdens on working families. nice um, another democratic leaders said additional drilling in california is not the answer because of the climate crisis, and they don't like the idea of suspending the gas tax, either democratic leaders in the state senate and assembly say that that tax money is needed for road repairs across the state governor newsom and some democratic leaders say they support the idea of giving californians a gas tax rebate. legislative leaders say they plan to pursue that option. now the governor did not offer any details about how much that rebate would be or when it could hit california's pocketbooks. for now, it's a promise. not yet a reality. da
