as you know, the texas statehouse and senate passed a final version of their congressional maps. this one no longer pits you against your democratic colleague sheila jackson lee. i remember speaking with her about this, and she was just so upset at the prospect of having to run against you potentially in a primary. what are your thoughts on this now, relief? >> well, there was never any relief that she and i would run against each other. we met, and this of course was after we found out that this was a possibility. and we discussed it and we concluded that we wouldn't. i'm very grateful to her for the way she has approached this. we have a unified effort. and there are times when you have to simply decide that certain things won't happen. it won't happen, we will not run against each other in. terms of whether there's relief, of course i feel better about what has been presented because it does not pit us against each other. she has been a very fine legislator. and would have us continue to do our work. i don't think you should be allowed to gerrymander people out of congress who
