supervisor stefani, did you want to say something? >> supervisor stefani: yeah. i'd like to add that and second all of that. and you know, you said in your opening remarks that sometimes community input is devalued and ignored, and then we as elected officials bear the brunt of that. and then, if we push back on the m.t.a. in terms of asking for that community outreach or asking for that work to be done, we are then cast in a light that is not always true. and we ask that the sfmta work with us in terms of that community outreach and that community input because we -- like supervisor safai said, are the ones who hear from the constituents, as we should. so we definitely want to be working with the sfmta board of directors and those that are in the sfmta to bring forth things like bike share because we value that, and we also care about that. so it creates this -- basically this conflict that is not necessary, and we want to work with the m.t.a. to provide those things of which we also value. so it is a problem, and i think it's definitely one we need to be workin

thank you supervisor stefani. i will hope you will hear from our doctor to, out our clinic, has been shepherding this legislation through as well. thank you and i hope we can get your support for this important legislation. >> chair mandelman: thank you. next speaker. >> good morning, supervisors. i am the executive director of mission neighbourhood health centre. we have several clinics in the mission and one in the excelsior and we serve about 13,000 patients each year. about 30% on issue. this program will greatly benefit our uninsured patients, but not only the uninsured. we had a situation with a patient on medicare. and for some reason, she got into the wrong medicare part d. program and needed to pay about $1,200 a month for her diabetes medication. she is a retired person on social security and she cannot do this. this will be a program that can benefit people who are also falling through the cracks with medicare part d. or other insurance issues. at least during the period where we can then resolve those

supervisor stefani? >> supervisor stefani: yeah. i just want to add to that. i'm so impressed by everyone today, and i was thinking, you know, for me, the strength of people in recovery and those that are facing their addictions on a daily basis just absolutely astounds me. i am just so in awe of people who over come that and face that on a daily basis. i just want to say much props to you who expressed that to us today. i was just thinking, i don't know if you've read that book by brian stevens, "just mercy," and there's that one quote, each of us is more than the worst thing we've ever done. i think it's an amaze be -- i just was thinking about that as everybody was telling their stories, their personal stories, which i thank you for doing. and i want -- i want to get to know all of you better, and i would love the chance to meet with all of you individually and really work on a lot of the issues that you discussed at the reentry council. i was a former prosecutor, started my career that way, and one of the things that i enjoy doing most in that job was work
