i am steffan fraunz and district 2 from [inaudible] advisory committee. you have seen before today. as a number of years i have seen the need for park system close and glow over time. i have seen the budget year after year leave funding for the parks just short to keep up with the needs of the growing neighborhoods and parks. just like supervisor farrells remark, the funding for the parks haven't kept pace with the funding directed to other city departments. months before the initiative was introduced supervisor farrell came to seek to place a measure on the ballot to seek funding for the parks. i was over joyed when he made that presentation. i believe this is the key to the furcher of happiness. we see building more and more skyscrapers, this is the first time we had a supervisor come and say we need to put money back to the recreation and park department. so, for me this was very important. i believe the supervisor did important community work necessary by going to community meetings across the city to hear from residence. he sought our input and as you heard my fellow members i
