this is kind of a neat feature of stenson beach. lot of folks go to stenson this time of year.esterly wind, kind of blowing the fog away. fog gets peeled away so you get clearing and sunshine in a beach like this, when the prevailing northwest winds blow, not offshore, but in this area, it is offshore. the landmass faces south a little bit. that's why the beach weather will probably be good up there this weekend, too. a little fog in the morning, but winds will blow off. at the ocean beach in san francisco and pacifica, winds are blowing this way, but there's no topography. in the sunset district, richmond district, moving into san francisco and cutting off just right the other side of 19th avenue. but the fog will push inland tonight, into the san francisco bay and over into the east bay hills on these winds, but it's not going -- shouldn't have a big push into, say, san rafael or a big push into livermore valley. i think it's going to stay around the bay and the coast. 16 mile-an-hour winds at sfo, what you would expect this time of night. 71 in napa right now. 82 in fairfiel

there's fog along the coast right now, fog moving in now at stenson beach. if you come in close, lot of folks living out in the sunset and richmond district. you're fogged in west of 19th avenue. here's 19th. if you go over twin peaks across town, it's not bad. at the ballpark, it's sunny. i think it will stay that way until the game is over. then fog rolls over the bay in the morning. winds will push it onshore. the weekend? what you got today is what you'll get saturday and sunday. there's had the cool on the coast. these are current numbers now. there's the warmth inland. this temperature disparity from cool to warm is classic. the cool air gets pulled in by the warm air. warm air goes up, cools, comes back down and you get the feedback loop. you get this land seabreeze, which is indicative of basically our entire summer. it's a dry pattern, a stable pattern, but it allows the fog to form, allows temperatures at the coast to be cool, temperatures inland to be more like that. upper 70s. it's not a hard core temperature spread, but we're starting to see it,

joining us is phil stenson, a professor of criminal justice, and bill lewinski who testified at the bart trial and retained as a consultant with the attorney in this case and tulsa county sheriff's office and lou gehrig os with us. and you explain this as junk science. explain. >> it is junk science. it is not expert testimony. there is no -- there is no testable theory and not subject to peer review. we don't know the error rate and it is not accepted by the giantivic community. that being said i think there is a place for this type of psychology and that is if it helps us to learn what happened then it would be appropriate for that purpose. anderson the national institute of justice which is the research arm at the department of justice is funding research into events in the criminal justice systems, which are systematic errors and by studying the errors we can reduce mistakes whether in wrongful conviction or improper police shootings so for that purpose i do think that slips and capture might be appropriate psychology but it is not scientific evidence. >> bill you disagree clearly. t

we're joined by dan bongeeeno and phil stenson, criminal justice professor. cnn legal analyst and former prosecutor sonny hostin. >> have you ever heard of slip and capture, that motor memory took over have you heard of this? >> i haven't heard of that specific term, but i've heard of that phenomenon, training in the red zone is one way. when i was in the secret service, that's what we used to do. in other words he would engage in vigorous physical activity in a stress test, and then do a judgment course with your firearm, when you're breathing really heavily and you're not thinking correctly. then you have to think, do i shoot or not engage the target? so i've heard it called a couple of different things but never slip and capture. >> phil is there any science to back this up? >> no it's junk science. it's not something that's supported by a testable theory. there's no peer-reviewed articles that would support this. we don't know -- there's no known rate of error. it's not generally accepted by the scientific community. in most courts not admissible as evide
