"theres no point on us arguing on political ideologies about this. we need to look at exactly whats going on here and remember the patients and clients come first. we are iowa" stephanie/2bam good evening. i'm stephanie angleson. jack/2bam and i'm jack miller. tonight, iowa finally has federal approval to go forward with the governor's plan to privatize medicaid. but the switch over date is being delayed. jack: it's the update everyone was waiting for, as we continue local 5's countdown to coverage. jack: this afternoon, the federal centers for medicare and medicaid gave its approval for the change. medicaid coverage in iowa will now switch hands from a state-run program to three private managed care companies. but the federal agency bumped back the start date from march 1st to april 1st. stephanie: the plan moves forward and those who use medicaid need to choose a provider. stephanie/bam: this change affects every one and five iowans--that's more than half a million people who rely on medicaid care, right now. the deadline for them to sign up for a plan was last wednesday,but it's not just iowans who have to sign up with the managed care companies. jack: the hospitals and doctors who provide the care have to sign contracts with these manag
