stephanie chuang is live at olson's former high school where this morning friends are preparing a vigil to remember him. stephanie, good morning. >> reporter: marla, good morning. a long and difficult week for so many people. a candlelight vigil will be here at the high school where brett olson graduated from a couple of years ago before he headed off to cal polysan luis obispo. yesterday his parents were very emotional after identifying their son's body. it was found in the sacramento river, discovered by someone not far from a place known as the washout and very close to where friends last saw him at an event with thousands of others during labor day weekend. the olson family had been getting ready to search chico when they got the news, dashing the hopes of thousands of people from family to friends to many strangers who had all been wishing for his safe return. >> we all just were wishing for a different outcome. i wanted to meet this person that i had been searching for. he's been on my mind and i was just hoping to give hmm a hug. >> reporter: a facebook page called let's bring br

we have stephanie chuang with more. >> reporter: very big crowd, marla. it is all thanks to the new outlet mall opening in november. these are retail jobs. competitive. we are here at the robert livermore center where hundreds are lining up. you see the line snakes around into the building where the job fair is located. all ages and backgrounds. high school graduations and people with masters degrees. all of them hoping to walk out with a job. >> i have been looking. it has been difficult. i had an interview last week with the large corporation in town. >> i got laid off and the company went out of business. >> reporter: you can find hundreds of stories of people waiting at a job fair at the robe robert livermore community center. they are hoping to get a job of the stores opening in november at the outlet stores. the project is bringing 3,500 new jobs. 2,000 are permanent and others temporary. the 70 employers here today say they are prepared to hire on the spot. >> we're excited to be opening in livermore. we have 50 positions looking to fill. >> report

stephanie chuang joins us live from livermore with more on the job fair that could have employers hiring on the spot. good morning, stephanie. >> reporter: very good news, marla. good morning to you. it's nice to have some good news on the jobs front f the bay area. and the good news again is the hiring on the spot. some 70 employers we're told should be arriving around 7:00 this morning. and again all you need to do is show up with your resumes and it will be in the back here. no one lined up just yet but that is expected to change very soon. this is the paragon outlets that is slated to have more than 120 stores from higher end brands like coach, kate spade, to bloomingdale's, j. crew and gap. now, this means 2,000 permanent job openings along with 1500 seasonal and temporary jobs. the outlets will be hosting two job fairs ahead of its grand opening weekend, november 8th to the 11th. the first job fair again here. robert livermore community center, 444 east avenue, it starts at 10:00 until 2:00 this afternoon. again, hiring on the spot. and the best part also, no registration needed. j

stephanie chuang, "today in the bay." >>> thousands of firefighters are battling nine major fires up and down the state. one of those is near cow mountain. the so-called scotts fire has burned six and a half square miles. that's almost the size of san francisco. gusts of up to 40 miles per hour overnight have not helped firefighters gain the upper hand. the scotts fire is just 15% contained. about 300 homes are still evacuated and authorities are warning residents to be aware of unhealthy air quality from the smoke today. >>> air quality officials expected to provide new details on the response to that massive richmond refinery fire. officials will update their part of the investigation into that august 6th blaze. they'll be joined by members of the chemical safety board and california air resource board at a meeting in san francisco. more than 17,000 people visited area hospitals right after that fire. most reporting respiratory issues related to the talksic plume of black smoke that was released by that fire. initially the air quality resource board said they found no air quality i
