i'm stephanie lin. police say the emergency call came in around 2.30 this morning. we know suspect is now in custody. kron four's charles clifford is live outside the pelosi home in the pacific heights neighborhood in san francisco with the very latest on this investigation. he charles? >> hi there. yeah. so right along broadway here in pac heights, speaker pelosi is home right behind me you can see the police department still has broadway closed down as this investigation continues. let's going take a look at some video kind of walk you through what we know at this hour. now, according to the san francisco police department, officers arrived about 2.27 early this morning to do a wellness check. when they arrived on scene, they found a speaker pelosi's husband, paul paul pelosi, having some sort of argument with a man and there was a hammer involved. now little while ago, the police department held a press conference. here's chief william scott with the san francisco police department describing what happened next. >> our officers observed ms pelosi and the suspect

i'm stephanie lin, a bay area pharmaceutical company faces its 3rd day of demonstrations as members of the aids healthcare foundation continue to protest gilead drug pricing and policies. kron four's. cara charles clifford joins us live now from gilead headquarters in foster city with more on what he's hearing from demonstrators right now. hey, charles. >> they're well and sciences that they have their headquarters here in foster city ca foster city. they make pharmaceuticals and there's a group of people who are very unhappy with this company. they say they're basically charging too much for their drugs. all this week, the aids healthcare foundation is staging daily protests outside the gilead sciences headquarters here in foster city. they say the company has overcharge patients who use their drugs and restricted access to some of its medications. >> under the federal 3.40, b program, drugmakers such as gilead are required to provide medications at a reduced cost to qualifying health care providers. these protesters say the company is violating its 3.40, b obligations by not offering

i'm stephanie lin happening today. oakland's beta charter school is welcoming students back to school after last week's mass shooting. students will not be in school for instruction instead, the superintendent says that the kids time will be dedicated to community building. school leaders are now talking about having armed guards on campus. the subject has come up following last week's shooting that happened on the campus that houses 3 schools, including bay tech. the superintendent says his charter school cannot add armed guards for one simple reason. >> we are tenants of the oakland unified school district and as such are facilities use agreement does not allow for us to have armed security on campus. >> back in usc's board of education cut ties with its designated school police department. the current board members had the sole authority to make any changes to security moving forward at the district. the superintendent says bay tech recently got a threat assessment report from an outside security consultant. the sch

i'm stephanie lin. our top story this afternoon.ormer alameda county deputy accused of killing a couple over a possible love triangle chose not to enter his plea today. kron four's will tran is at the courthouse for us with the latest developments. >> devon williams junior. he did make a court appearance. he was behind plate glass. they did not enter a plea for him meeting his attorney or if the judge asked him a question. he didn't say anything or was in court. this has been pushed back for another month and a half. so we'll just have to wait and see whether or not he will plead guilty are not guilty in this particular case that we do know back on september 7th, according to prosecutors, he is a former deputy with the alameda county sheriff's department after being fired. but at that particular time, he was working at the santa rita county jail. he left that location, drove a few miles, according to prosecutors, bursts inside a married couple's home and shoots 2 of them married couple execution style and then takes off from the sce

i'm stephanie lin. a tragic ending to the search for a missing family for family members kidnapped earlier this week have been found dead. the merced county sheriffs office got a call saying a farm worker found 4 bodies around 5.30, wednesday evening. they've been identified as an 8 months old and her mother, her father and her uncle were also among those discovered the 4 had been missing since monday when they were kidnapped at gunpoint from a trucking business in merced said. >> horribly. horribly senseless as to what happened here. we don't know motivation we are making the determining factor on that investigation now is going pursue a full conviction i'm hoping our district attorney's files for the death penalty that talk to. >> investigators arrested this suspect, his manuel salgado. they say he is in the hospital after trying to kill himself. the sheriff said he did speak with the suspect and says he strongly believes there is another suspect potentially involved in this case. well, no ransom dema

i'm stephanie lin. that fire broke out around 6 o'clock this morning. and as of right now, dozens of those elderly residents are still unable to go back home. this happened on santa claire avenue in the grand lake neighborhood. firefighters were able to get the flames under control in a little over an hour. but the extent of that damage is still unclear. kron four's will tran brings us the latest from the scene. >> to the left. that's where the fire started at around 6 o'clock in the morning. we have learned that there is a standpipe for units like this where a building like this, a standpipe allows firefighters to plug in so they can run water up there and fight the fire wherever it's happening. in this particular case, it was the 5th floor unit 5 to 2. but for some unknown reason and that they still need to investigate that standpipe was not working despite. being tested back on october 7. so they had to use all >> the hoses and run it up to the 5th floor. we do know that this fire started when the extension cord that allows you to plug in multiple co

i'm stephanie lin. ing a lot for you this morning. >> let's start by getting a look at the weather with dave sphar. good morning, dave. well, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and we have the fog situation back with us again today. it will be tomorrow to quite a thick marine layer that we have going on. >> in terms of the coverage area will see a lot more of that tomorrow spilling into the central valley. the thing is right above us, the air is about as warm as your living room and as dry as your freezer. so we have a big contrast. once we get the sun, i will get that mixing process. but i think in some parts of the bay will still be left with some scattered clouds even into the early afternoon. here's a look at fog cast as a shows us for the most part, it clears out by one. but the leftover cloud cover remains along the coast a little bit. and that drizzle and cloud cover again tomorrow morning. and although you see clearing happening here, one will still be left with some of that cloud
