i'm stephanie lin. we start with explosive new details on the richmond officer involved shooting that left one man dead officer shot and killed an armed person while trying to serve a search warrant at a home just last week. four's tiffany justice joins us live out live now in the newsroom to break down the latest in this investigation. tiffany. >> right today, richmond police released the body cam video from the officer who shot and killed. 66 year-old kevin macdonald. shooting happened while officers were serving a search warrant on a home. but before we show you that video, we have to explain what happened in the days leading up to that shooting. this all began on june 18th. that's when police say they got a report of a man flashing a gun at someone on west cutting boulevard from his car and threatening to shoot them. then on june. 26 police got a report from 2 people who say a man pointed a gun at them and fired 2 shots based on the description from witnesses, police were able to leave. both of thes

i'm stephanie lin.'s get straight to a live look of the ruby princess cruise ship visibly damaged after hitting pier 27 in san francisco while docking this morning. that collision stranding thousands of passengers leaving them in limbo as the investigation into what happened continues. that boat right now is docked between pier 39 and the ferry building along the embarcadero kron. 4 charles clifford joins us live now from the scene. and charles, what are you learning? >> well, right now i'm here at pier 27. that is the ruby princess cruise ship right behind me here that docked about 6 o'clock this morning. according to the cruise line when the ship made what they call an expected contact with the pier and there is visible damage. let's go. take a look at some video here. now. the damage is on the port side after just sort of the left side, rear of the ship, it's above the water line. it's not a lot of damage, maybe about 3 feet in diameter, kind of circular in shape. but it is definitely there. there's

i'm stephanie lin. i'm ken wayne today, the san francisco police chief bill scott released the name of the man police shot and killed. chief scott also said >> several investigations are now underway looking into whether or not the use of deadly force was within department policy. kron four's dan kerman has the story. >> san francisco police chief bill scott confirmed thursday that a man shot and killed by police wednesday afternoon in the bayview hunters point neighborhood was armed. yes, he was unarmed. >> there's a number of videos out there. the gun was recovered. the chief says rumors to the contrary are untrue. >> he was armed, but >> let me pause for a second and say this as well. you know, somebody lost their lives and that is very tragic situation. i don't care how you slice it. i don't care what the reason for that is. we lost a life yesterday. we'll put out the facts like we always do. that's our that's our cornerstone. is transparency. and there's multiple investigations that happened on eve

i'm stephanie lin and i'm grant lotus. a man accused of kicking over an elderly asian woman in san francisco is a rain today talking about 27 year-old james lee ramsey. >> facing multiple felony charges including elder abuse. and this is not the first time he's been in court for attacking a member of the asian community. kron four's. rob nesbitt joins us live now with the details on that. rob ramsey spend one year in prison for attacking an asian man in oakland 2 years ago. that man in the san francisco district attorney are concerned that ramsey was able to commit a second attack in a different city. >> james lee ramsey found himself sitting before a judge in all orange. once again, according to san francisco district attorney brooke jenkins, ramsey was arrested for kicking an 88 year-old asian woman friday just after 11:00am these pictures captured the incident on ellis street in san francisco before and during these are very vulnerable who, >> you know, should be respected and revered. i'm not who should fear every day

fireworks shows from across the bay area with host olivia horton and stephanie lin. >> a lot of people't realize hot temperatures can be a problem for your eyes. canadian researchers say it can be particularly dangerous for older people and some cases impairing eyesight for more than 40%. scientists still trying to figure out why that happens. i think it involves more exposure to ultraviolet light. a problem that could get worse because of climate change. the hot weather also has experts are warning people to pay a lot of attention to family members with dementia. doctors say the illness can impair their ability notice if they are dehydrated or developing heat stroke. >> if they get lost in the extreme heat effects can set in within minutes. they also suggest having a recent photo medical information and familiar destinations on hand just in case to help first responders find them. >> next, a string of bay area cities are set to pay a lot more for water. plus, side scientists sense a robotic fish into the ocean. how it's supposed to help protect supposed to help protect marine life. ♪

i'm ken wayne and i'm stephanie lin. police say they were undercover in the area making an arrest when someone who appeared to be armed approached the officers and police ended up shooting him. kron 4 sarah stinson was at the scene and spoke with residents about how police handled this situation. sarah. >> it was quite a tense scene in hunters point after some community members witnessed san francisco police shoot and kill a man. they're demanding answers as to what led up to this. but police say it's all under investigation. >> our community is angry. a call from home with a heel to come because it was a shooting. the bayview in hunters point community is reeling after a man was shot and killed by san francisco police. happened just before 3. >> wednesday afternoon. police say officers in plainclothes arrested a man at catalina street and fairfax avenue. police say another man unrelated to the arrest approached officers. 2 more officers arrived as backup in a patrol car and in uniforms to talk with the second man that s
