i'm stephanie lin. people living in rv's near san francisco zoo had until midnight to move from the area. homeless advocates say many of the families have school age children and are now left with a lot of uncertainty. kron four's will tran brings us the details. >> zoo road is right behind me. you can clearly see at the beginning of zoo road. the rv's are gone. but notice all the other cars parked here. here's what's going on on monday. there were signs that said no parking and i have one of the signs right here starting 8.14, midnight. so those rv's are gone. then all of a sudden the signs have changed to 8.17 and you can see it right there, which means that those cars. are allowed to park here, at least for the next 3 days and homeless advocates. i spoke to say that. putting them on skates, pins and needles as part of the intimidation tactic by the city of san francisco to remove those rv's and their families. but the bottom line is they are gone for now. reportedly they have moved to other parts of

i'm stephanie lin. developing news out of the east. bay crews responding to a small plane crashed into the tracy municipal airport. we're learning no one was hurt when that single engine aircraft went down near terre bill creek and mines roads close to the borders of alameda and santa clara counties. it took off from buchanan field airport in concord and went down a little after 09:00am. according to the san joaquin county sheriff. only the pilot was on board. that person was not hurt. the ntsb is investigating. and roads are back open after a deadly crash shut down traffic in walnut creek. this comes as we learn the name of the 18 year-old who died ignacio valley road between north broadway and north civic drive has reopened to traffic. police say sunny oppaga of pittsburgh died when she crashed early yesterday morning. another passenger was hospitalized but is expected to be okay. police say van gogh was driving the both of them from pittsburgh to danville herself in the passenger and traveling between 60 and 80 miles per hour when s

kron 4 stephanie lin spoke with san jose mayor matt mahan. >>all right. so let's start off with the homelessness. first, a big statewide headline, of course, is governor newsom's recent executive order. he's directing state agencies to start dismantling homeless encampment. we know that the governor can't force cities to act under this order. but curious to get your perspective on this will san jose follow through with what the governor is asking for. >>yeah, thanks i support the governor's executive order and i appreciate that. he's pushing everybody to resolve the encampments that existed for far too long on our streets our creeks and elsewhere in the community. so we will absolutely support state agencies as they work to clear encampments from state land, which is what the executive order pertains to. we've been doing encampment clearing in the city of san jose. while we'll continue to do that work. it's really important that we also recognize that we have to places for people to go. otherwise we waste millions of dollars in taxpayer money. just shuffl

kron 4 stephanie lin spoke with one of the supporters, san jose mayor matt mahan. >>so do is start us off your provide us with some bullet points. mayor, how would prov 36 change existing law and why do you think it's important that voters passed this in november? >>absolutely. prop 36 is a reform of prop 47, which the voters passed about a decade ago and what we've seen through experience is that prop 47 has some gaps were seen. untreated addiction drive a homelessness a retail theft crisis and maybe most importantly, overdose crisis. and so what popped 36 does is escalate penalties for repeat retail theft and drug crimes such as public drug use. and it gives judges ew tools to compel people into treatment will save lives. will reduce retail theft and it will help in the effort to end the era of encampments. so what have you seen in the city of san jose? but is leading you to throw your support behind this measure. >>well, look what we've seen since the passage of prop 47 is that while it did some meaningful work get it passed the era mass incarceration and also c
