low priority cases are dropping even lower in san jose this as the city's police department deals with a smaller force because of officer layoffs. stephanieins us to tell us which situations will no longer get an officer response. >> reporter: good morning. you know, a great example is noise complaints. last year the city actually had more than 9600 calls for noise complaints. and only 17 of those calls actually led to arrests or citation. that's an example of how officers get tied up here so now police are warning people who live here, don't expect them to show up at nonviolent calls. for instance, the officers will not be showing up at anonymous noise complaints, burglar alarms, illegally parked cars. and following other departments like long beach and sacramento, they will not respond to noninjury traffic accidents even if they are hit-and-runs. take for instance the alarm situation. according to the "mercury news," last year sjpd responded to 12, 450 alarms and only a little more than 100 of them were enough for police to write a report and only led to two arrests. police say they are just being straightforward about what people in th
