health reporter stephanie stahl is here with new advice. >> yes, this is a switch for people, for years, we have heard that completely avoiding activity in the days following a diagnosed concussion can help speed up recovery. but according to a new study in the journal of the association of the medical american association, there is no clear evidence that works. the study looked at 3,000 children and adolescence between five and 18 who had been diagnosed with acute concussions. one month later, the inactive children had more concussion symptoms, compared to the kid who participated in light activity. doctor andrew rustman of the cleveland clinic who did not take part said limiting activity too much after a concussion, might not be beneficial. >> there is good evidence, that if we avoid doing lots of activities if we sit in the dark room for a long time we don't he can exposure self to the normal things we encounter in our environment and once we start resuming those activities we are much more sensitive to that. >> reporter: researchers say that resuming physical activity after a concus
