wmur' s stephanie woods continues our storm watch team coverage. stephanie: we are here at manchester public works and there is a lot of activity here. please -- the snow are getting ready and there is a huge pile of salt. one reason it is so big is dpw has yet to kick into it. manchester dpw says it has 6500 tons of salt on hand and will be the trucks will go out in the early evening with the snowplows at the ready to the deputy director says he is hopeful not all the snowplows will be needed because the ground is not frozen and the snow may not stick. he says the typical snowstorm requires anywhere from 1200 to 2500 tons of salt. dpw has not had to dip into its reserves yet this season. >> we have not spent any money on salt as of yet this year, nor have we on overtime. that is certainly a benefit to the city budget. in years past we have seen substantial snowfall in late october. this is certainly beneficial but you never know what the rest of the winter season is going to bring. stephanie: now, we have definitely had a warm holiday season and we
