jimmy fallon, stephen colbert, colbert and jimmy kimmel all have new shows starting tonight. where the first to go off the air when the writers strike began on may 2nd, 23. now, as soon as wednesday, 75,000 kaiser permanente employees could go on strike after their union contract expired yesterday morning. the workers want across the board pay raises, a medical plan for retirees and job protection. they're also protesting what they're calling staffing shortages, health care workers say it's an issue that's affecting their own access to medical care. i had an eye infection and i went to the emergency. they gave me a couple of drops. mind you, it was over the phone. i tried to get an appointment as an own health care. it was three months out before i can even get an appointment with an ophthalmologist. that's just simple. kaiser wants to hire 10,000 new employees this year and hopes to reach that before the end of this month. kaiser also says appointments and operations are continuing for now as negotiations continue. patients we talked to hope the strike can be avoided. it's a
