jared kushner is a new yorker, and steve bannon has a different view. and when it comes up to issues on how to handle health care they have different visions, and so while yes, there are disagreements and a clash here, so much of it will be on the substance of what trump does. while trump was elected on broad ticket discussions, he didn't have a replacement. he said replace it with something terrific, it is up to bannon and kushner to replace it. and they differ on the specifics. >> well, i think people close to steve bannon told me what he thought were policy disagreements he has come to realize may be more personal than that. he does feel a bit kneecaped or felt that way maybe before the friday peace-making session that reince priebus organized. but i spoke to someone today who is not really on team bannon and they said you have to realize that steve, unlike other people like paul manafort, who was thrown overboard when he became too much of a problem, steve bannon, this person said, is close to this president. they do enjoy a close working relationsh

. >> is this the beginning of a diminished role for steve bannon? is this a slap in his face that all of a sudden he's no longer on this national security council key group? >> my sense is that it's a combination of everything that you just said, that it is the fact that he was put on there to baby sit michael flynn and, yes, it does beg the question why was he the national security adviser and the answer is that you get from a lot of sources, i'm sure you're hearing this, too, michael flynn was loyal to the president and wanted to be national security adviser. so the president said, okay, i'll make you a national security adviser. is that the way decisions should get made? no. but that's what happened. the people around donald trump had to work around that and part of that was putting steve bannon at the national security council which then ended up with a whole host of other problems that they didn't actually realize which they should have. in addition to that, yes, it's separating him from the national security which should happen because his foc

many of these people are accolades of steve bannon. the question is, is steve bannon there for the long haul? i know many people like myself who want steve bannon out of the white house and don't think he belongs. however, we'll see where that ends up. >> so, kevin, to that point, you do have bannon being removed from the national security council last week. he is allowed to be in any of the principal meetings he wants to. he went to one late in the week last week. do you see him as having a waning influence in the oval office? >> i think it has more to do when a president gets in the white house and recognizes the power of the executive and the power of being a commander in chief and listening and hearing directly from military advisors like henry mcmaster and general mattis over at the pentagon that tends to supersede that of a staffer. i think the timing is interesting given that jared kushner was in iraq and spending time with these top military officials and then, subsequently, this move was made to the national security council.

is that what trump wants, steve bannon got him here but there is so much criticism about his fringe viewse the conspiracy theories come from, is that what trump wants? does he want bannon to leave? >> i don't -- i have not heard that. the president's only spoken very highly to me of steve bannon. i've seen them down here several times down in florida. the president i think is a loyal guy. steve was very loyal to him when very few people supported him and i think when you look at all of these -- i've known steve for a number of years now. i first met him about 15 years ago when he was in private business. i have never seen any racist or anti-semitic behavior on his part. i think you could go through anybody's websites and find people making comments that are inappropriate -- >> hold on a second. >> i don't think that reflects steve. >> on news max, if you put news max up against breitbart, do you believe the level of offensive language and racism would be the same? >> well, i haven't compared both of them but i do think news max tends to be much more careful than things that go on breitbar
