steve bullock is pro-choice. that means he has vetoed approximately one gazillion efforts at abortion bans and abortion restrictions in the state, including one as recently as this month. he vetoed republican efforts to end same-day voter regulatiistr in his state. after trump's fcc repealed net neutrality nationwide, bullock was the first governor in the country to sign an executive order requiring net neutrality in his state. he was the first governor to do that, but then other governors followed. so there is this democrat who keeps finding concrete ways to make progress in what is nevertheless this really, really red state. that democratic governor is as of yesterday now running for president. he is the only democratic candidate running who has won a state that trump won in 2016, but he has won statewide in that state three times, including on the night when trump took his state by 20 nights that night, the election night 2016, 20 to 30% of the voters in the state who voted for trump nevertheless that same nig

does steve bullock have that combination? >> well, jim, good morning. that combination, but you're right, on paper a governor bullock is largely central casting for what a democratic presidential candidate perhaps used to be in years past. he is a governor from a red state, again, he won on election night in 2016 the same night donald trump won by 20 points. he's largely aligned with the democratic party on their progressive principles, of course, he is much more moderate than some of the people in the race here, but i think one central question is why is he getting in the race now, and the answer to that is at least according to his advisers is because he was waiting for the montana legislative session to end at the beginning of may. he didn't want to jeopardize that he was doing there on healthcare reform and other matters, so he is jumping in at this point. the request he is is there a hunger for a new face among all these faces of 22 candidates? the big question is if he can make that debate stage in june he certainly can, you know, join the rest of

montana governor steve bullock makes his case for 2020 a very crowded presidential field.er inake a look its first financial report as a public company, with first quarter sales near the high-end of previously disclosed play luminary -- preliminary results. joining us is mandeep singh, who covers the company for bloomberg intelligence. we kind of knew where the numbers were headed based on when they went public. anything in this report today that gives you any idea of anything different? the bookings number was at the high-end of the range, and that tells me the ridesharing market, at least topline momentum is still strong, and uber is executing well. they are using a lot of subsidies. what you see, which is slightly surprising, is they are reducing rate and aggressively getting into the food delivery business, which grew over 100%. and i think right now the key issue for them is driver retention. they are reducing take rates because they want more drivers on their platform. joe: is that sustainable? mandeep: leasing about marketplaces, once you have the core base of users

montana governor steve bullock entered the race with his big platform saying he's a blue guy who's wona red state. this pushed the idea the center will dominate the election. if that is the case, how do you plan to compete with more moderate candidates? >> i have a very strong record and one that's different than everybody. not only did i win a 2-1 red house district twice, second time by 24 points, but i lever loss those county and in fact earned higher thresholds since. i have the highest throat threshold in the history of new york state at 72%. that is higher than president obama earned or hillary clinton. and i just won back 18 of the counties that voted for trump in my last election. not only do i win red and purple but i am for bold, progressive ideas and i actually get things done. the last congress alone with the republican senate, i passed 18 bills. common sense things like money for rural broadband. ky pass big bills like don't ask, don't tell appeal at the rights of this country or standing up for our first responders when they needed a voice and someone to fight for them. s
