first to you, jeff, how dare you say tim cook is better than steve jobs. i can hear the apple faithful say that. why do you believe that? >> i will say no knocking on steve jobs, he was a great guy, great ideas, led apple back from the brink at a time when apple needed him. it's a tale of two leaders. steve jobs is a wartime president, he had to right the ship at apple, come up with the way of the future. tim cook has a harder job of figuring out the logistics of this, multihundred million dollar company, a force with very high expectations, instituted a dividend and buyback program. he e-mails jim kramer, you can say that steve jobs is interesting or a little more sexy, what have you. i think from a shareholder perspective right now, i'd rather have someone in charge like tim cook, the supply chain of apple is staggering for them to do all their products at the release schedule that they do. it's a different animal these days. that's why tim cook got the job because that was his expertise, he was able to bring the efficiency to bear. as a shareholder that

cook has turned out to be an amazing ceo for apple. the world has changed in some ways that would not have necessarily played to steve jobs' strength. and they have played to tim cooks'. i think china is a particularly important one and apple's new entry into the banking world. places where tim cook's personality has really helped apple enormously. having cook as the right-hand man and the handpicked successor is one of those things you look back on and go, wow, nice call, man, that was really great. >> the thing that strikes me about looking back now four years ago on what's happened to the legacy of steve jobs is the products that steve jobs' apple came out with, they were so singular, you look at the ipod, you know what it is. you understand. same with the phone. same with the original i-mac. now we're looking at steve jobs and different people from different portions of his life, whether it's his work life and the executives, his home life and his widow. those of us in the press who interacted with him. he's like that proverbial elephant, where everybody touching a different part has a different idea of what it was. for someone w

cook. >> steve jobs was on my mind. >> the steve jobs movie and everything.idn't think so but you see something totally out of any range of expectations from china. keep surprising on the down side. >> and both divisions are weak and i think also as mcdonald's also commented it turned positive in china. it seems to be company specific but i think the other issue is that profit in china was fairly strong given how weak the comps were so it begs the question on whether or not there's a pricing discount and maybe they should be looking to reinvest some of their cost savings and better pricing. >> obviously this is a huge sell off and shares down by almost 70%. is this a buying opportunity? >> we'll learn more in terms of what the management team thinks was the cause of the mess. if you look at the valuation we haven't revised their numbers yet but valuation is not that cheap. it's still trading at 12 times. it's not that cheap. the other thing i would say is that stock is probably overreacting a little bit. they were built in expectations. >> this is the second

tim cook comes out and did what steve does. steve did it uniquely well, and you captured that.k to your sense of steve, why did you choose the idea of three separate introductions of products to define steve jobs in your mind? what i before i knew wanted to do, i knew what i did not want to do, and that was create a biopic. that is something audiences are familiar with, but i did not know what i did want to do until i ran across a piece of information. the research on this was -- walter's book and reading a lot of other things, primarily spending a lot of time with all the real people who were represented by characters in the movie and a few dozen others. just a piece of unimportant information, seemingly, that at the 1984 mac launch, minutes before the launch, they could not get it to say "hello" and that it was very important to steve that this be the first computer to introduce itself. he wanted people to know that this was a deadly ring -- a friendly thing, wanted people to like it. that's where i got the idea. i am most comfortable as a playwright. i kind of fake my way th
