. >> reporter: not two minutes into testimony of stephen "the rifleman" flemmi, and steve davis was on his feet screaming obscenities at him. in front of the gallery. >> i didn't mean to. i didn't want to disrespect judge. i wrote an apology. >> reporter: flemmi's ex-girlfriend, flemmi suggested steve davis was a drug dealer and informant. he then continued documenting murder after murder, including that of his own stepdaughter deborah huffy. after bulger killed people, he had a routine. he'd leave the scene and go lie down. murder after murder, bulger would kill and then take a nap. >> i think it's unbelievable that he does that, that's just a sick man. >> reporter: in court for the first time ever, the son of another alleged victim, justin halloran who came with his mom, patty. brian haller ron was killed when his son justin was a newborn. his son says he's got mixed feelings of sitting in the same room with the man accused of killing his dad. >> it doesn't matter, he's like 83 years old. his life is almost over, you know. if he dies in prison, what's he got ten minutes left to live?

and then we found out today, i found out today from talking to steve davis that on tuesday evening, stevenot going to testify and that upset him greatly. because as you said, brooke, he's been waiting decades to tell his story. and kevin weeks, you know, gave a different story. he wanted to rebut that. >> so many people are telling their stories. red, you have such a story to tell. why not put you on the stand? >> well, first of all, i refuse to go on the stand. second of all, i would be a hostile witness, so to speak, if they did put me on the stand towards their informants. of course, towards whitey. no doubt about it. to both sides. but that said, let's get back to rakes. you know, here's a guy that was ready to go testify. who was a victim along with his family. was waiting many years as kevin said. and he never got the chance. and the reason why he never got the chance is because kevin weeks had a different story about the encounter that happened. and he wanted to tell his story. he wanted to tell his story how it was true. and actually kevin was put on the hot seat for that. and he

. >> reporter: steve davis is trying to understand why his friend is dead. >> would weeks ever do something like that, no. i couldn't see him going that far. >> reporter: what about whitey bulger? >> does he still have that kind of pull outside? i don't know. >> reporter: davis' sister was allegedly murdered by bulger. davis last saw rakes tuesday after he was dropped from the government's witness list. >> i've had a weird feeling since he hasn't talked to me tuesday. >> reporter: and didn't know what to think when he went by rakes' house and couldn't find him. >> this here seems like reflakting back to the late '70s, early '80s, when people were getting killed. a rat, someone's going to testify, and, bang, they wind up getting killed. >> reporter: investigators say they were no signs of trauma. some media reports have suggested suicide. davis isn't buying it. is there any way this could be suicide? >> 110% no. >> obviously, he's got a strong opinion. susan, found by the side of a road. this just raises questions about the power bulger could possibly have from prison, but i know there isn't

a situation, steve davis, a friend of his attending the trial, one of the victim's families, devastated. ortiz's office is not commenting on that. rakes perceived the decision by the u.s. attorney's office not to testify as robbing him of the opportunity to refute claims by kevin weeks, bulger's ally, that rakes sent his sister to, as an intermediary to whitey and weeks asked if they were interested in buying rakes liquor store. weeks testified earlier -- jenna: if i could, only a minute here. >> sure. jenna: stephen rakes obviously has been under a lot of post-traumatic stress disorder. there is heat wave across the northeast. at this point we don't know the cause of death. got to ask the question, does it look like a hit? >> it does not appear to be suspicious at this point. they are doing an investigation. there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body. so at this point, it, just appears to be an unattended death. i would not go to that point at all. i will not say that. jenna: you know a lot about this case. a case we've been following "whitey" bulger for last several weeks. you'
