steve jobs announced he was stepping down on monday when the markets were closed for dr. king's birthday. apple is the largest tech company in the world. the second largest american company overall behind exxon-mobile. and it is not the only news being made today. the company reports profits after the bell. company officials will be on a conference call with reporters and analysts. one idea that is not entirely crazy, what the if apple chose today to pay a dividend? the company is sitting on tens of billions of dollars with no lodge call way to spend it. shareholders would karg argue they own the profit as well. it is an interesting concept to throw out there as apple may make all kind of news this morning. >> it is interesting to watch that stock today. >> our team coverage out of that big news out of cupertino continues with bob redell. bob, it is impossible to escape apple's impact on our every day life with all the products we use today. >> reporter: yeah, absolutely. good morning to you, brent. it will be very telling when you hear the earnings report later today after hour
