but steve king says he's not withdrawing his support. students across iowa will take part in their own straw polls for the presidential election. iowa secretary of state paul pate says november first. pate says the goal is to give students hands on experience with the political system. so far around 200 schools have registered to participate. we'll know the results that same day. the straw poll is part of the free elections 101 curriculum that the secretary of state's office developed. the minimum wage in polk county will be going up more than 3 dollars over the next 3 years. the county supervisors voted in favor of raising the 2019. that will go up in 3 increments starting in april. polk county becomes the 4th county to have a higher minimum wage than the rest of the state -- which is at $7.25 an hour. the others are johnson, linn and wapello. a state audit says a former jail administrator in cedar county didn't properly deposit money the county collected from fees, and that cost the county more than $35,000 dollars. daron wilkinson wor
