lee continues to recover from a monster earthquake that rocked the nation a month ago. they are showing resilient spirit to an immense challenge. but the latest achievement brings daunting risk. steve harrigan is following the development from the mine streaming from chile. >> reporter: it was a siren, the found that the families hear and the nation has been waiting for, for two months. it meant that the rescue workers broke through more than a half mile of rock. the escape hatch reached the miners half a mile underground since august 5. the next move is likely to test stability of the rock. if it's too weak, we have seen the steel casing going toward the mine. it will be welded together and inserted in the mine. if those are not necessary and the rock is strong enough, we could see the capsule lowered two or three days from now. the first minors could be up as early as tuesday. this will not be a quick process. we are talking 33 miners. this could be a two day rescue. still in question whether they will wait for each other here at the mine or be helicoptered to town. some saying we survived as group in the mine and want to be rescued as one. >> gregg: thank you. fox news is the el
