. >> we want to bring back steve moore, we had you on just a few minutes ago. we've been talking on commercial breaks here, just the similarities going on here at home and the uk in terms of this antiestablishment sentiment, we've seen this play out. i know you're helping out with the trump campaign. talk to us about what is going on in both places that people are frustrated with reality, status quo, and with politics as usual. could this impact our own presidential election? >> well, i think it could. i think it is sending a signal to politicians, all over the world frankly that people feel like the politicians aren't listening to them. let's take the example of immigration. it's a big issue in the u.s. and europe. what happened in europe is the flood of refugees coming in to the european continent. the people didn't want them. the rulers said we're going to let them in. i think this is a big issue, by the way, when you talk to some of the british voters they're saying we're worried all of these refugees coming in, they're going to come to britain and voters j

. >>> steve moore has just been named donald trump's newest economic advisor. a visiting fellow at the heritage foundation. wow, you are a new economic advisor for trump. you had a big call today. what happened? >> we talked about these jobs numbers. they are just a disaster. the reason the unemployment rate is so low is because we've had millions and millions of people just dropped out of the work force that were not counting unemployed. the real unemployment rate in the country is 10%. it is no the 5% when you find people who don't have a full-time job. you just go around the country and ask people how is the job market. you want a laugh line with people? tell them that the unemployment rate is 5%. nobody believes them. >> what would donald trump do to improve that? >> i think two or three things. one is donald trump is proposing the biggest tax rate reduction since ronald reagan ran for president. we know ronald reagan, i even go back to john f. kennedy, when they cut tax rates the economy performed much stronger. there is no question about it, especially in

steve moore is with us. t yellen can raise rates in the immediate future given that awful jobs report from last week. what say you? >> i completely agree with you, institute. i think that -- stuart. i think that, no, so much structural weakness in the economy right now is reflected in that employment report. and the way i've been putting it is i think this is a soft business recession that we're in right now. if you look at those business numbers, corporate profits, corporate spending, capital purchases, they're all down or flat. where is the case for slowing down this economy any more than it's already been slowed down? stuart: i don't see that she can raise at all before the election. i just don't see it. i mean, unless i'm -- >> well, i mean, look, this was only one jobs report, and it was horrible, horrific. but, you know, if we get some solid jobs gains in the next couple months, i don't think we are, i think we'll get in the 100-200,000 range. you know, that's not horrible, but it's just very slow growt

hear to weigh in on the president's latest economic claims, steve moore, heritage foundation distinguished visiting fellow. >> hi, david. david: this suggestion we should make social security more generous the day after he was ridiculing his critics for suggesting he is in favor of liberal spending programs. let's play that for those who have forgotten. >> my bigger point is, to bust this myth of crazy, liberal government spending. government spending is not what is squeezing the middle class. david: so on one hand he says he is for this open-ended, got knows how much it would cost plan to spend a lot more on social security. on other hand he says he is not for spending more. which is it? >> report that he wants to spend more on benefits for social security comes just a few weeks after the social security administration's own trustees, david, tell us that the unfunded liabilities, that is, the amount of revenue that is supposed to be raised versus the amount they're supposed to pay out, that gap is somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 or $20 trillion. so the idea of paying bigger benefits i

i talked to steve moore, one of two supply siders he has charged with reforming it, to make it a bit . steve says we will get it down to $3 trillion, it will be supply side and middle class oriented. you can't do that. it all doesn't fit. i think it's incumbent upon us just as my pal john heilemann says we ought to stay on him, his refusal to release taxes, we should stay on him. >> so his plan is to take a plan from $10 trillion over three years to $3 trillion? >> that's what they want to do, cut it by two-thirds. if he tries to do that, his principal will run away from it. you can't make it a supply side tax cut that certainly doesn't go and penalize the wealthy, if you will, and really have a big middle class tax cut without raising any taxes elsewhere. it's not feasible. >> let me ask you about the politics of each of their economic proposals within their parties. clinton has always been seen as centrist democrat, new democrat, in that mold. now she's the presumptive leader of a party that is much more in terms of its policy preferences, much closer to bernie sanders. does she hav
