. >> joining me now from los angeles, retired fbi supervisory special agent steve moore. steve, just unspeakable tragedy here and still so many unanswered questions about the gunman and why he did this. first shooting his own grandmother and then 19 children and two adults at this elementary school. but what about the actions first of the police at the scene just before the gunman was wearing body armor and entered the school? what is your assessment of how all this was handled? >> well, the first thing i've heard and so confused right now -- we're trying to find out who did what, when. but it appears on his way in we've been told two of the isd, the district police officers engaged him and were shot by him. and that's what allowed him to get into the school. there are also conflicting reports there was a long wait, possibly up to 45 minutes before anybody went in and rooted him out from a barricade situation. i can't verify right now that's true, but if so it raises some serious questions about the rapid action tactics that are standard nationwide and what kept them from

let's bring in retired lapd sergeant cheryl dorsey and former fbi advisory special agent steve moore. steve, let me start with you. you've got the head of the school district police force, which is maybe six or seven officers, calling the shots on this active shooter situation. you've got 19 law enforcement members in the hallway. at what point do the officers say, you are wrong here, you obviously don't know what you're doing, break chain of command, and go in? is that something that could have or typically would have happened if you're getting it this wrong? >> well, it certainly should have happened and it could have happened. i believe that those other officers are obviously from a different agency, don't know the ranks, don't know who was the highest ranking officer in that group of 19. but, listen, it's just common sense. how could anybody who has been properly trained and armed themselves hear what was going on in that classroom and not take action? and so there was a colossal failure, we now know, on every level. i don't know if the 911 dispatchers are probably not used to han

steve moore, to you first.resident biden was laying a lot of this at the doorstep of your old boss and his spending and the deficits that now he, joe biden, says he's getting under control. what do you say? >> well, first of all, i've got to tell you, neil, you did a great report there on what's happening with inflation. and when you talk about the essentials, i think that's the word the reporter used, those are the prices that are going up the most. i've got to tell you, people get so angry when i say we have 8% inflation, they say it's not 8, i'm paying 10, 12, 15, 20% more for the essentials that i have to buy, the gasoline at the pump, the groceries and other things that are necessary just to keep your family going. and so people are quite angry about this, and i think the big event of this week, neil, was that speech that joe biden gave about inflation where he didn't really have any solutions, he just pointed the finger at others whether it was covid or whether it was trump or whether it was, you know, pu

. >> neil: i want to go with steve moore and art laffer with a great piece. the headline is the one that drew me in. the bitter fruit of inflation. steve, good to see you. now you paused at that as not an immediate level we hit, although it's not that far away. 10%. you base it on what? >> neil, what we did, look back at what happened 40 years ago when we had the last big bout of inflation in the 70s. you had this cascading effect of higher and higher inflation. at one point the inflation rate hit 11%. we're at 8 1/2% right now in the u.s. we looked at what happened to the economy over that period. people have very short memories. it just crushed the stock market. the stock market lost -- ready for this, neil? over that 12-year period, it lost 20% in nominal terms. when you adjust that for inflation, stock lost over 60% of their value. that is a ferocious bear market. we're putting out a warning if that happens here now with this high inflation, we could see the dow fall well below 30,000. what is going on here -- >> as it stands right now, you're looking near
