. >> we've heard and steve paulson has confirmed that there the winds seem to be moving in the direction of tokyo which is probably why some of those concerns heightened this morning. what are you hearing about thewetter and how it could effect that radiation? >> reporter: well, pam, definitely the wind is a concern. and especially with something like radiation where it doesn't smell you can't really see it. it's not tangible in that way. there are reports every day they have to take readings and submit it to the government. i'm told at 8:15 in the morning. it will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow morning when the numbers come out. people have been effected by this anyway with the power. some people are saying there are shortages of some supplies because of transportation. we saw one convenience store empty shelves lacking milk, lack of paper goods. so the radiation is just one additional way people are being effected and certainly everybody's taking very close note of the weather conditions to see what happens tomorrow. >> thank you. must be very intense being right there. th

but first let's go to meteorologist steve paulson for the very latest on the storm. >>> pam and dave, thank you. we have this system roaring through right now. but the good news is it looks like rain rates are decreasing rapidly behind it. but not before we had moderate to heavy rain turn showery in nature and colder unstable air begins to move in. as long as that low's sitting there it will funnel in more rain. looks like on the backside lake port starting to see a decrease in the rain. that's good news. already at monitor stage is clear lake. especially at lake port and clear lake oaks expected to go above flood stage on thursday evening. north bay just in line from st. helena to napa drier air is moving in especially into sonoma county and marin county. another strong system is starting to light up the radar. look at fairfield. that is heavy duty rain. back over towards bethel island, concord, danville, livermore, south bay, santa cruz mountains and morgan hill to wattsonville decrease turning more showery in nature. san jose to mountain view over the dumbarton bridge heavy rain. d

but first meteorologist steve paulson is here with the latest on the storm. >>> all right, dave, pam, we have cloudy skies and scattered showers out in advance of this system. but the bulk of the system will come in in the next couple of hours. yesterday's system gets bumped out because this next fast developing system is beginning to move inland. so far the rain is just moving in now. this is a lighter ban that moves in towards the north bay. but the leading edge is just beginning to get in there. come out wide and i'll show you where the bulk is. it's still well offshore. it's still developing. so once this ramps up and starts to come in it's going to give us moderate to heavy rain. i'll give you the latest image. there are some rain showers out ahead of it but the main leading edge of it is now moving into the authority bay and parallel along the coast. here's sal. >>> steve, right now traffic san mateo bridge looks good. today we don't have the high wind advisory for the san mateo bridge right now. traffic is moving along okay. so we could be a little bit windy there. also this mo

now it's the man, steve paulson. >> how can i be the man, sal -- you. we have lots of rain moving through the bulk is between now and the next couple of hours. lots of reports of heavy wind and rain. it's not going to change until about sunday. so rain and wind and the possibility of hail, thunderstorms later on. by friday much colder air moves in and showers, breeze disci, blustery conditions and thundershowers with one more system on saturday. it will lift. we'll get rain on saturday. by sunday, monday, the jet stream will be lifting. we'll be on the southern edge. our system packs a good punch. it has cold air support, a wonderful awesome jet stream. you take a par cell -- parcel, cool it, lift. it things are just exploding. that's near the radar site. north bay over to nap parks concord, san pablo bay, san jose and the santa cruz mountains. that's a strong line. so the heaviest half inch to three plus. 30 to 60-mile-an-hour winds with gusts of 50. flood advisory is out. flood warnings are out for the yellow causeway by amounts of cold air, temperatu
