roger clemens tonight. national correspondent steve centanni tells us what happened. he is inside the courthouse. evening. >> good evening, john. four-and-a-half years after the allegation first arose, roger clemens walked out of this d.c. courthouse a free man. not guilty on all six federal counts against him. in the end, jury of eight women and four men didn't believe clemens lied before a congressional committee. in february of 2008. when he said he never useded performance enhancing drugs. the testimony here lasted nine weeks. after an earlier attempt ended in a mistrial last summer, due to prosecutorial mistakes. the chief witness against clemens was his former trainer, brian mcnamee who claims he personally injected clemens with steroids. his credibility was questioned by the clemens defense which pointed out that mack namee made false. stays in 2001 sexual assault case. victorious and grateful clemens backed by his wife and four sons appeared on the courthouse steps. >> all you media guys that know me and followed my career. steve is outside the courthouse. what can you tell us? >>guest: well, i can tell you from our producer inside we have just gotten word that roger clemens isn all counts. all six counts against him. and the obstruction of congress. lying to congress. and, perjury. so there is a great day for roger clemens one of the greatest baseball players of automatic time. a bad day for the prosecution here in washington, dc. in the federal court system. because as you know, they tried this case once last summer and got a mistrial. because of the prosecution misconduct. and they came back, again, and the jury deliberating over the past several days going last tuesday, and took a few days break and came back and resumed deliberations today and a jury of eight when and four men, and they decided, roger clemens is not guilty. on all of the six federal counts against him. >>neil: thank you all very were. again, to keep you posted on this a jury found roger clemens not guilty, and he will not be facing jail time. whether he lied about using the performance enhancing drugs is not guilty. with dedicated support teams at over 500 branches nationwide. so when y

roger clemens through this saga. his attorney called it a big day of celebration for them. steve centanni live on this in washington. steve, what questions really arise in the end from this clemens prosecution? >> reporter: well, martha the first one whether the justice department is overreaching when it brings high-profile cases without a lot of solid evidence. last month john edwards and now roger clemens. in this case the testimony did not convince a jury of eight women and four men that roger clemens lied to congress. clemens walked out a free man after nine hours of jury deliberation and nine weeks of trial. clemens testified in '08 that he never used performance-enhancing drugs. he wasn't compelled to testify at that time. he wanted to appear to clear his name, after being named earlier in the "mitchell report" on drugs and baseball. clemens and his attorney offered this vote of confidence for his clients. >> it has been 4 1/2 years since we've listened to a picture that doesn't match up at all with the man we have grown to know and love. he was not only a seven-time cy you
