gregg: joining us from our newsroom, steve rogers. steve, you know, and couple things occur to me because we have not heard from authorities about any other suspects other than the man under arrest. i'm beginning to think those may have been erroneous reports. any time there is a car accident and 20 witnesses to it, you get 20 slergses of the events -- versions of the events and none of them are the same. some people jump to conclusions and information gets passed along that is not reliable. i'm beginning to think maybe there was one individual driving this truck and maybe he may be somewhat deranged since he has been taken to hospital for a mental health exam. steve: this report that he was taken to hospital for a mental health exam caught my attention immediately. they may have reason to believe they are dealing with a deranged person and not a person who planned 0 execute a terrorist attack. that's something they will find out pretty soon as the evaluation unfolds. with regard to witnesses seeing people getting stabbed. if there are

i want to bring in a former member of the fbi joint terrorism task force, steve rogers. picking up on what we're talking about, to me it is interesting where you have one attack that has a well put together bomb, suicide best, the manchester bomber kills almost two dozen people. now this attack has knives in a van and you wonder if there's any kind of link between the two attacks. >> that is something that please will figure out. it seems to me this was a target of opportunity. no doubt they were traveling in the van to commit a terrorist act. they found targets right on that bridge. that is why they attacked the bridge so call a target of opportunity. it doesn't mean they might not be connected to his cell. it doesn't mean there might not be a greater network there. there are many unanswered questions that the police will try to find out. you can be sure they will be looking at the van, where did it come from where did the knives come from, and the individuals who are killed, did they know the bomber and the suspects they arrested a couple of weeks ago? >> you go to the

we know it's two capitol police officers, congressman steve scalise, as you've noted, a staffer for congressman roger williams of texas, and that's three people -- four people, rather, and we assume that the fifth person is the gunman. but it's still not clear to us whether five people were shot or whether there was an additional victim, still trying to confirm that. we should have that locked up fairly soon. also inspect terms of what the weapon was, the witnesses have said it was a long gun, a rifle of some kind. some of the witnesses reported seeing the gunman reload the weapon with magazines or ammunition clips. so that will be an important piece of information too when we get that, stephanie. >> extraordinary that the eyewitnesss are our own lawmakers. rand paul telling us that he was hiding behind a tree and couldn't even tell which direction the shots were coming from so he didn't know where to stand behind. mo brooks said, quote, it sure as hell wasn't an accident. i want to tap in mo brooks in another interview right now. >> i took evasive action. are we finished? all right. sure. >> that, o
