last night, officers arrested steve ruiz. police believe ruiz shot and killed a fellow hell's angels during a funeral on october 15th. nbc bay area's stephanie strong is in fremont with more. >> reporter: we are at the days inn off of warm springs boulevard, just off 880 this is where it all happened. we spoke with the employee who was working at the front desk who pointed the s.w.a.t. officers in the right direction last night to the first floor room, that window right there it was likely steve ruiz knew that police were here for him. it wasn't the suspect who checked in at 5:00 last night. >> when cops came in, they asked me if a certain person checked in. >> they showed you a picture? >> they showed me a pimp and told me the picture is different from the person who checked in but the name -- the last name is the same. >> reporter: it was a jose ruiz who walked in around 5:00 with a woman and a young boy around 5 years old. this place was fully booked so officers had to call ruiz's room and ordered him by phone to crawl out
