. >>> here to discuss is steve wolf, a stunt accord naughtor and firearms safety expert for movies andnderstand you have spoken to the investigators working this case. what have you learned? >> i've learned that they are very busy trying to gather information about what happened. they're trying to figure out what type of firearm was used, whether it had the proper modifications to make it actually a prop gun. anything that an actor touches on set, technically, is a prop. so if i'm an actor and this is a pen, this is a prop pen. has this pen been modified to keep someone from getting stabbed in the throat? probably not. when you talk about prop guns, specifically talking about guns that have been modified where live ammo cannot pass through the barrel and live ammo cannot be placed into the cylinder. so if you modified a gun like this, then it's a prop gun and cannot accept live ammo. it simply won't fit in there. that's one thing that we need to find out. unmodified gun, called a prop gun or actual modified prop gun. and then so far as what was put inside the gun. were we dealing with

joining me now is steve wolf, a firearms safety expert who has investigated multiple on set accidental shootings including the killing of brandon lee during the filming of the crow" and with us areva martin. i have always appreciated being able to call upon you for the past years. you've taught me some gun safety and i've appreciated it. so you've been on sets like this. how does something like this happen? >> well, the physics of how bullets enter people has been flown for about 5,000 years so there is no excuse for something like this to happen. in order to shoot one, you have to have a firearm capable of discharging a projectile. you have to have a casing. you have to have primer and a bullet. and you put those things together and if a bullet comes out and enters someone, that is exactly what it is designed to do and you have to figure out how you make that doesn't happen. one, you could make sure by looking inside of the cylinder that there is nothing in the gun that could come out. and of course you want to make sure that there is no bullet on the end of the ammo that you're loadi

this a little bit more, cnn legal analyst and criminal defense attorney, joey skraksen and also steve wolf. he's a stunt coordinator and theatrical firearm safety expert. good to see you both, joey. could alec baldwin or any of the crew members face any legal consequences for the shooting? >> you know, it's possible. but let's start with alec baldwin where i think it's highly unlikely. i think pivoting quickly to this point other things will happen, of course. i think the sheriff's office as we know is undertake-upping an extensive investigation to determine what went, who went, et cetera. there's a review with regard to that particular production. i think there'll be an industrywide review and i think we'll see other legislative efforts potentially to whether or not alec baldwin would be criminally responsible. when we do things in any job we have we reasonably rely upon other people because we operate as a team. in the event it was indicated cold gun, he had no reason to believe it was just that, tchts it was a prop and it would never hurt anyone. so it's difficult to charge him. i think

. >> steve wolf is a theatrical firearms safety expert, and he joins me now.e're going to try and rewind on all of this, but just so we kind of explain how this could have happened. first off, what is a prop gun? is it really just a real gun, and how could it possibly kill someone? does it mean that it must have had live ammunition in it? >> so the definition in hollywood of a prop is anything that an actor touches. i touch my cell phone on-camera, now it's a prop phone. this is different when it comes to firearms. if i touch any gun, then that just became a prop. but a prop gun, in quotes, per se, is a gun that's been modified so it cannot fire live ammunition. if i were to take live ammunition, try to put it inside this gun, look at that. i'm saved by the gun, right? now, if i take an identical-looking gun that is not a prop gun, it looks the same, right? look at that. live ammo goes in it. so very important to distinguish between a gun that's being used in a prop, and a gun that's been modified so that it cannot have live ammo introduced into it. so, no, i

steve bannon in criminal contempt. how will this work? i know you'll be meeting tuesday with your committee then this becomes in the hands of the justice department? >> well, it's a process, wolf. by the way, thank you for having me. the process starts with our business meeting on tuesday evening. we will entertain the motion to hold steve bannon in criminal contempt. that process then will be forwarded for consideration by the house representatives. if the house of representatives agree with the standing committee's recommendation, then the speaker will be authorized to transmit that document to the attorney general of the united states and it's then his job to pursue the criminal contempt claim. >> has the attorney general told you he is willing to prosecute a criminal indictment if it's referred by the house to the department of justice? >> no. we have intentionally kept ourselves separated from justice. we don't want anyone saying, well, you all were colluded together. this is what the law requires us to do. i hope that attorney general once they get it, he will look at it and say we need to expedite this indictment for grand jury. so we kept arms length away. we've shared
