steven parker, head of thematic equity solutions, my goodness, i'm glad you're sitting here.been a great week. i think it's interesting. when you look at what's gone on in the markets this year, it's been a disappointing year, but there's something going on underneath the surface. if you look at what stocks have done when investors are focused on company results, the market's up 7% during that time period. when we start looking at the headlines around china and the fed and greece, markets are down about 10%. so i think what markets are telling us now is we're about to hit earnings season. corporate fundamentals are pretty good, and i think this rally can continue. liz: well, up until today we've had more than 30 triple-digit moves in a row are, 30 days, 35 days of that. so you're talking about a lot of volatility, sometimes up triple digits, sometimes down. for the investor who's watching right now, does that mean you should get out? no, correct? >> absolutely not. i think we've actually been spoiled over the last couple of years because volatility's been so low. the volatili

joining us steven parker from jpmorgan private bank. given a lot of thought to this pull back that we have seen in the market following what was admittedly a lousy quarter for corporate america. >> it was but there has been an interesting trend going on in equity markets so far this year. when you look for the full year the s&p is flat but under the surface there's something interesting going on. if you look at how the market has done during earnings reporting season it's up 8%. once earnings season ends and you stop focusing on what companies are doing and start looking at the headlines around greece or china or the fed, markets are down 7%. so what's important is that we are in the beginning stages of earnings season and two longer term it is those corporate fundamentals which markets are saying are still pretty good that drive equity markets. >> we had a guest at the top of the hour when we say what do you do in this environment, figuring out corporate earnings and everything else he said i buy japan. i know japan is a trade you guys
