there were about 80 volunteers in lori's group, among them supervisor steven sherrill and bilal mahmoud. organizers say it means a lot to get this spotlight from the mayor, who promised to clean up san francisco during his campaign. cleanups are just an easy kind of intro into civic engagement and community service, because it's literally the easiest thing you can do. any person can do it. it's all ages, can pick up litter that they find on the ground, and it's super impactful because a lot of that does end up in the bay and the ocean and causes pollution, especially those single use plastics. so there is at least one cleanup in every san francisco zip code every weekend. a handful of people in san jose are out of their homes tonight. after flames tore through their two story house early this morning. it happened just after 5 a.m. this is in the woodland terrace neighborhood in downtown san jose. that's less than a mile away from san jose state. crews say seven people are displaced. they say there was a big response. six engines, and they were able to knock down the flames within 30 min
