david stevenson live in dolores park to show you what's happening there. >> reporter: you can see theor so people that are gathering for this protest, this is the third such protest since sunday evening. let's go to a live picture right now from ktvu's live view camera. the people who were gathered here at the park about 60 or so are angry about that sunday afternoon shooting. it was an officer involved shooting where a parolee fired upon two officers after running away during a fare inspection on a platform. harding was a suspect on the slaying of a 19-year-old. he was arrested for forcing a 14-year-old girl into prostitution. angry onlookers gathered around police. some who were on the scene said he never drew a weapon. at about 3:45 this afternoon, san francisco police put out a press release that says evidence analysis found gunshot residue on hardings right hand. that finding supports over witness statements that harding shot a police officer using his right hand. you can see protesters gathered here at dolores park. we've learned that there was a meeting at city hall this aftern

david stevenson is live with the latest. >> reporter: well, gasia, you can see where the civic center station was closed out at 5:15 to you can hear some yelling of the protesters. earlier there was about 100 people who were out at civic center station. ktvu was the only station to have live pictures. here are the pictures from earlier in the day when the protesters were downstairs. they are protesting the july 3rd shooting of bart police officers. protesters wanted bart officers charged in the police force disbanded even with dozens of bart standing by, that prompted the closure of civic center station. >> people decided they were going to put people's lives at risk and we had to make the decision to shut down the station. >> it was fairly peaceful. people were marching around saying, no justice, no peace. things got a little heated when a bart train stopped and people tried to push their way in. >> reporter: right now you can see the remnants of some of those protesters moving down market street. they are being trailed by san francisco police officers on motorcycles and vehicles as

that's sir paul stevenson.oner of the metropolitan police stepped down as questions surrounding his relationship with editors of the "news of the world" newspaper. while stevenson maintains he had no knowledge of the extent of the activities paper he said he was resigning because "as commissioner i carry ultimate responsibility for the position we find ourselves in." his resignation comes as news international's former chief executive rebekah brooks was arrested sunday and underwent 12 hours of questioning by police. that came as a surprise she was arrested. she thought she was just going to be helping in their investigation. brooks is set to appear before a parliamentary inquiry tuesday alongside james murdock and rupert murdock. there are questions if she'll be able to testify. >> those bombings last week in india. hillary clinton had a trip planned there. she's still going ahead with that trip? >> yeah, we understand this is a key trip for secretary clinton. it comes less than a week after a series of explos

david stevenson joins us live with new information on this investigation. david? >> reporter: tori, the briefing here at b.a.r.t. headquarters wrapped up about 15 minutes ago. what we learned two days after the shooting, the investigators are still trying to dam the -- are still trying to identified shooter. the shooting happened at platform 1 at san francisco station. two b.a.r.t. officers on couldn't -- con fronted an allegedly drunk male. b.a.r.t. police say he wielded a bottle and knife against the officers and was shot by one of them. we learned the officers were immediately removed from the station and isolated by the san francisco police department and were spoken to by san francisco police and bark detectives. one officer was armed with a taser. the they say the situation appeared 20 justify deadly force. >> any deadly force situation, a taser is a tool of availability. the officer is gonna make split- second decisions regarding how to respond with deadly force. our investigators are looking into what he chose to use his weapon. >> reporter: surveillance v

>> well, paul stevenson, the police commissioner, has resigned. this is amid all of the investigations going on, not only of the phone hacking scandal but also police payments by news of the world to receive information. now, he has resigned over increasing public pressure but he has denied any wrongdoing. he has come under increasing scrutiny because of the high level connections between "news of the world," the tabloid, and senior police officers specifically neil wallace, a former deputy editor at "news of the world" had basically been paid by police to become sort of a communications consultant and while he was a communications consultant, it appears he was also reporting back to news international and this is what the police have now come under close scrutiny for. and this is what sir paul stevenson is now talking to in his press statement that has just been released, atika. >> is this the questioning of rebekah brooks as it relates to this scandal? >> it's actually a separate part of the same scandal. the rebekah brooks arrest was a separate

and as if that wasn't enough, just hours later, britain's top cop sir paul stevenson the commissioner of the metropolitan police resigned also because of these ongoing investigations into the phone hacking. in his specific case it was over allegations that the former deputy editor of "news of the world" had been paid by the metropolitan police for nearly as a year as a communications consultant. that former deputy editor has also been arrested earlier as part of the ongoing investigation into phone hacking. so a lot of questions were being asked about what the relationship between the police and "news of the world" was there. now sir paul stevenson has said he has done nothing wrong but he did resign he says in order to keep the metropolitan police from being distracted from their work so that he could focus fully on the investigation. here's what he said in a brief statement earlier. >> however, the issue of my integrity is different. let me state clearly, i and the people who know me know my integrity is completely intact. i may wish we had done something differently but i'll not lo

sir paul stevenson was trapped.ed between a home secretary angry at not being told about the hiring of mr. colson's deputy neil wallace, and belief in his own words that doing so would have compromised the prime minister. compromised him because of mr. colson. why did sir paul think that? because his own deputy, john yates had been told by the prime minister's chief of staff that the prime minister should be told nothing. so, mr. speaker, this catastrophic error of judgment, hiring andy colson, hanging on to him too long, directly contributed to the position sir paul found himself in and his decision to resign. so, my third question, mr. speaker, is does the prime minister accept that his conflict of interest for the metropolitan police commissioner in an impossible position? so three questions are about bskyb, the warning about mr. colson that were consistently ignored, and about the met commissioner. these and many other questions will have to be answered by the prime minister over the coming months. there's one o
