ktvu's david stevenson is live in san francisco with why the presentation of the super bowl pitch isting a lot of attention. david? >> reporter: that's right. san francisco bay area's bid for the super bowl is getting a big assist tonight from tech companies ahead of the big announcement. >> the team heading the bid announced a field goal. >> we raised $30 million in commitments and pledges to bring the super bowl to the bay area. >> google, apple, hewlett- packard and yahoo. 25% of the pledges go towards youth programs and programs programs and charities. >> the corporations are getting lot out of this. it will bring in hundreds of millions of dollars. >> reporter: san francisco submitted their bid on ipad minis donated by apple for the owners. contrast that with the america's cup race that struggled to close a $20 million fundraising gap. >> america's cup had the challenge of introducing a new support. we are used to the super bowl in the bay area. america's cup host is different. >> reporter: university of california at berkeley professor says with a new 49ers stadium and winning

ktvu's david stevenson tells us we know the name of that person and more about how it happened.id? >> reporter: we learned more about the victim who fell off this roof and heard from neighbors. >> i was athome and i heard a thud. >> this resident described to us what happened sunday afternoon after a man fell from this roof during a bay to breakers after party. >> it was -- i mean it was crazy. literally couple minutes after i heard it i started hearing police sirens. >> reporter: the victim was 28 years old. a manager at demand force. he was among six people on the roof of this condo building. >> apparently they had been drinking and fell off the roof. >> reporter: it is unclear whether a residents or outsiders through the party but it doesn't appear to be a criminal case. >> awful tothink of somebody -- to think ofimably falling -- of somebody falling. >> just such a tragedy. probably will be discussing the situation and future strategies for maintaining security for future bay to breakers. >> reporter: police broke up 20 house parties yesterday but say with increased security
