rebecca stevenson is joining us with the latest, rebecca? >> reporter: this is one of the strongest storms we've had in the last 50 years. this powerful typhoon we've been seeing it develop over water and this is over water that we've got winds up to 190 mph. this is one of the strongest that we've had in a long time. just this year alone the pacific has had 30 storms. eight of these have been typhoons. now of these storms five have made landfall on the philippines and you can see here several of them focus in the same area that we're getting high on tonight. now, as you can see on the satellite picture it is advancing, making landfall, and it has now made landfall. we expect the gusts inland. we'll still have potentially at 200 mph. but most of the sustained wind as the storm tracks gradually across the area. we'll have winds sustained to 100 mph. this is devastating. catastrophic, and we have a very large population in the philippine island here. as you look closely you can see the eye of this storm. this is where the intense winds exist.

. >> good morning supervisors, i'm peg stevenson from the controllers performance group. the joint monitoring process has been in place for several years. it's largely an out growth of 2009 task force in measuring how to city improves and manages the community base non-profit organizations. in essence, it's characteristics are that i this i we now have 9 city departments who administer and grant the bulk of the money that goes to non-profit community organizations work together. there is a quarterly steering committee process. all non-profits that receive granting from more than one of those agencies together and they are over a certain threshold dollar value and into a pool, all of those contracts are listed. some organizations have more than within as you might imagine and the city department goes through the process of allocating to one of those agencies to conduct the monitoring process. they look at whether or not the cbo has received an on-site visit within the last couple of years. in some cases we allow an organization that we have received a visit submit their re

david stevenson is live at sfo with the impact from today's shooting here at home.begin with julie haener. >> she's in the news room and has been monitoring the situation in los angeles. >> reporter: right now parts of lax are starting to reopen. that was announced in a news conference about 45 minutes ago. we also know the one person who was killed in today's attack was a tsa agent. the first ever to be killed in the line of duty. two other people were wounded, at least one of them is also a tsa screener. witnesses say everything was normal inside the terminal this morning when suddenly they heard gunfire. >> i heard a couple of popping noises. i turned to look. sounded like somebody banging on something. there was a stampede of people. >> reporter: airport police say a gunman walked up to the tsa screening area, pulled an assault rifle from a bag and began shooting. >> he proceeded up into the screening area. where tsa screeners are and continued shooting and went past the screeners, back into the airport itself. >> reporter: the tsa says the gunfire killed one sc
