david stevenson, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> developing news now. a dozen homes have been destroyed in a wildfire burning in big sur. helicopters are dropping water over the flames fear pfeiffer ridge road. at this point the highway remains open but that could change. the chelsea prince carbon monoxide -- the chp continues to monitor the situation. 500 acres burned and there is no containment. one of the homes destroyed belongs to the volunteer fire chief. ktvu's amber amber lee is there and we will hear from her when we get a signal. weather could make a big difference, our ktvu's chief meteorologist bill martin is tracking the conditions. >> the conditions aren't that massive, upper 60s, humidity in the 17s. it has been dry. a dry year. so the hills are not as moist as they would normally be. in the fire zone the weather isn't playing a major role but what is helping, you see that wind out of the southwest, that wind will increase the humidity into the evening hours, it will drop temperatures as well. that is a good direction. here are the clouds.

katie stevenson was there as they announced the charges a short time ago. anne has learned new details about the investigation that led up to the announcement. david? >> garden tori. police back in september booked jimmy zoo on a vehicular manslaughter charges, they said today she will be facing felony charges, felony vehicular manslaughter and two counts of reckless driving causing injury. this is the result of a september crash in which they say she was going as fast as 70, not 80 hours, in her mercedes suv before she rear- ended a minivan, that killed kevin sam. sam's sister was injured, and his mother, a salsalito post office work arer, has suffered a broken spine. the suv accelerated without warning and says she did not remember making any attempt to push the brake, turn the ignition off or put it in another gear to stop the car, we have also learned the investigators brought in a mercedes engineer and a member of the accident investigation team to examine her suv we're told for hnidy effects before filing charges. >> it's seven years, but i don't want

ktvu's david stevenson just spoke with an attorney for the spalding family and learned of their angry reaction. david? >> reporter: well, julie, the release of this report this afternoon today caught a lot of people by surprise. in fact, we ended up providing it to the spalding family attorney. significantly, it does not list precisely when spalding died during the 17 days that she disappeared, but it does list a probable cause of death. here is what it says. probable electrolyte imbalance with delirium, clinical sepsis while in stairwell, due to complications of chronic ethanollism, clinical history, that is. medical experts we spoke to today describe that as alcoholism. the report also cites a urinary tract infection, which spalding friend's have said was the diagnosis produced by general hospital doctors. in just the last half hour, we have new insight into the report and heard from the outraged attorney for the spalding family. >> the electrolyte imbalance can come from dehydration t can also come from the infection itself, which throws everything else off in the body. >> this lad
