it's suggesting about an inch in the district, maybe a little more for annapolis and stevensville andh to closing in on an inch. so manassas .9, dulles and gaithersburg about 1/2-inch, frederick about 1/2-inch. that's our best guess at this point. this is actually some of the new model data that came in late tonight. maybe it doesn't take much to cause some slipperiness, but we wanted you to be aware the timing is such it will be around for the morning. we're starting february tomorrow. we don't have extreme cold, but this is a clipper pattern. you know how the discovery channel has shark week? we're going to have clipper week next week. so fast moving storms with a install amount of moisture is on deck. -- small amount of moisture is on deck. we'll have one tonight and tomorrow. we might have one saturday night and sunday. clippers tend to keep us chilly, 37 saturday, 43 sunday, might be another clipper possibly tuesday. they're hard to so i'm, so we wait till we're closer to try to nail them down. >>> coming up even if you're not into the big game, you're probably going to watch for

we'll have some cool spots, frederick down to 28 degrees, leonardtown 36, stevensville 37. expect to have a chilly night as we just have clear skies now. the moisture up to our north will stay to our north with that particular system, might get a little band of clouds to our north and west and maybe a few sprinkles of rain coming through garrett county a little later. tomorrow we'll watch the stronger cold front get closer. it does push milder air in our direction. we'll describe it as cool but really for february it's not bad. the frontal boundary will be closing in and it crosses tomorrow night. as it does so we might squeeze out some rain and snow showers. it appears as though an area of low pressure will try to develop along the leading edge of that colder air and on saturday we know it will pull in the cold stuff. so our question remains where does this area of low pressure get to and there are two scenarios we can see happening. one is that it goes off to sea and there's very little snow for the metro area or perhaps it's just right down here through the hampton roads

most of the area with the exception of reagan national is below freezing. 33 in washington. 32 in stevensville in hagerstown. these temperatures are going to be critical over the next several hours because, what is going to happen is you climb up several thousand feet in the atmosphere, temperatures will warm to above of the freezing mark later this afternoon. it often take a very long period of time to warm up temperatures and that will likely be the case a little later today. i know it looks ominous but most of this is not touching the ground but we are thinking a little later today, some of it will. we've got an arsenal here, a wide array of features. we've got a little snow flying. looks like a little sleet flying back out to the west and maybe a little rain mixing in in southwest virginia. the potential is out there for a wintry mick to start to mover into the area here later this morning during the early afternoon as we're dealing with what we call overrunning. we've got a little bit of moisture over that very cold air at the surface here in the mid-atlantic. the high pressure off to the

joe johns is live from stevensville, texas, this morning.t now? >> the suspect is being held at the county jail on $3 million bond. still early in the investigation. authorities trying to figure out what happened at the gun range and why. former navy s.e.a.l. chris kyle, who claimed a record 150 kills in iraq, died at the hands of another vet authorities say, allegedly using a semi automatic handgun. what police don't know is why. >> i don't know that we'll ever know. he is the only one that knows that. he has not made any comments to law enforcement as to why he did. >> chad littlefield and the suspect, eddie ray ralph, drove to the gun range together in a pickup truck. less than two hours later, kyle and littlefield were dead. ralph had fled to his sister's house and told her what happened. she called police and ralph was eventually caught. ralph is an iraq war veteran, left the marines in 2010. kyle who wrote the best-selling autobiography "american sniper," talked about duty to those he served with in an interview with ktvt last year. >>
