steve, don't go far. i want to go to maricopa county for a moment here. let's go to phoenix. that's where vaughn hillyard is standing by. vaughn has spent the better part of the last few months in the state of arizona talking to voters. vaughn, take us through the count, where things stand right now on the ground in maricopa county. >> reporter: the number we were looking for was 59% of the vote, out of the 62,000-vote batch. donald trump only took in about 52.9%. for example, out of that batch, the advantage he made up was 3,483 votes. he needed to make up more like 13,000 votes. that's a 10,000-vote spread. right now the trump campaign is running out of ballots. we knew that this batch was going to be the best indicator yet of where this race in arizona was going to go because we did not have data about what this batch would look like. these numbers and the remaining 145,000 votes in maricopa, that batch was mail ballots, not mailed in, hand delivered to polling locations in maricopa county. the trump c

steve, i will start with you. >> steve: oh, good. >> molly: [laughs] yes of course, you are the one luckyuy, so lucky. what would you say about the makeup of the court, is it more about the shift that andrew cuomo was pointing to or is it about potential lockdowns in the future and houses of worship, and how they are able to open their doors. >> steve: i think it says more about the governor and his bad decision than it does about the court, kennedy. his point is moot. they've got part of a right, and i've got part of a right. ultimately what he said was not moot because the churches and synagogues that were in the red zone when they filed against the state of grenada. the larger point is the supreme court said governor, you can't do what you were doing where you are trying to put a cap on the number of people who can be in the church or synagogue or mosque. andrew cuomo has had an awful week. first of all, yet the supreme court saying no, governor you've exceeded your authority. and secondly, his mom's steamed at him because he said to everybody at a press conference, he said essentially

steve: joel? joel: yeah, georgia is a state i have been looking at for a while. in fact, in 2012, 2016 in the hillary campaign, at one point people were feeling so bullish, they wanted to do a head fake and put some money in a red state to try to get the republicans to invest there and they chose arizona. i argued against arizona. i said no one in the press is , people like jonathan martin, aren't going to believe that arizona was competitive in 2016. georgia was a much more credible state at that point. i think the biden campaign made the right choice in playing their. the other factor is that between the last election and this one, we did some analysis of population trends in the country and post-financial crisis, for the first time since reconstruction, african-americans were moving more from north to south than south to north. those were states like north carolina, georgia, florida. obviously virginia, if you call it a below the mason-dixon line state. and people say that the reason is during

steve: right.suming president trump does finally leave the white house, reluctant as he may be, do you think that your friends in the republican party establishment are going to have an opportunity to do an autopsy of the party? or do you think the party, where it is, the base, is firmly going to carry on with this trump list track? is there a chance for folks like you and your ilk to come back and play a role in rebuilding and resuscitating the republican party? sec. hagel: well, i know this is difficult for the trump supporters. after all, mr. trump received over 71 million voters. support. so i know it is tough to lose. and these people strongly supported him. right now, it is still inflammatory, it -- charges of fraud and all the rest that we see everyday playing out in lawsuits, that will ease, that will stabilize once we get certification of a new president and the confirmation of that when the electors meet december 14. and then we can move on. but to your point, i think the republican party
