stillwater is one of montana's largest employers. the economic well-being of 1,300 montanans at stillwater who work at the mines is no doubt in serious trouble. g.m.'s actions threaten the well-being of families, numerous small communities, dozens of interconnected montana businesses. immediately after the court ruled against stillwater's employees, i joined with the senior senator from montana, max baucus, in urging general motors to reconsider their decision, to choose foreign suppliers over a proven domestic partner. i still hope that they make the right decision and realize that the new g.m. only exists today because of the american taxpayer. taxpayers like the montanans who work for the stillwater mine. maybe they don't care about placing american jobs att risk, but the fact is, i do, and we do, and they should. mr. president, i cannot express adequately today the disappointment that i've had and that i have with g.m.'s decision to negate the contract with stillwater. it is part of that manufacturing base that i think is so crit

jennifer: there is a case being brought by stillwater mining, they say that your buying out a contracthat this will hurt them. they say they will lose a lot of jobs. how do you respond? >> i respond by telling you this is the first i have heard of it and i know absolutely nothing about it. jennifer: how many jobs will be lost in the restructuring? how many plans will be closed? >> we have said that there are additional plant closings. i am not going to start listing plans and say which ones are in what country or region. as fritz henderson reiterated, we will reduce our salaried employees by 35%. we hope to illuminate a lot of executive positions because we now have a much leaner company. we are going to increase control. we are going to get down to 60,000 employees or so in the u.s. and that is a drastic reduction. all of us a very much regret seeing people go and seeing plants closed. that is just the way it is. when the company has to go to a smaller market size, which we have to, we are about 9 million vehicles for the entire industry. this is about half of what was being sold a co

lots of questions, first one comes via web cam from ashley in stillwater, oklahoma. what is your question? >> good morning. >> good morning. >> hi. >> my question is, i have trickley skin. so in the summer it seems that spots seem to come out that in the fall and winter they go away. what can i do to help those? >> the best thing to do, ashley, is avoid how much sun you're getting during the summer months because what's happening is those age spots, just like the dark pigmented laters, the skin cells that are the deep layers and the sun stimulates them and they come to the surface and that's what gives you the splotchy skin. the reason they go away in the winter is because you're not in the sun that much. one word of caution. you're a young woman. if you keep doing this, those splotchy spots will stay. and if you get to be my age you'll even find out that some areas become depigmented. you get little white spots on your skin. take it as a warning sign. use a good sunscreen and limit how much sun you get directly to your face. >> next question, viewer e-mail from jade
