a bad car crash in the outer sunset park on for sarah stinson just arrived on scene. joins us now live with the sarah, what's going on? >> yeah, serious crash here in sunset. we are here at sunset boulevard and santiago street where both directions are closed. this crash happened just before 4 o'clock. can see just how serious it was by taking a look at the damage. i mean, the car here, the sedan. it has heavy damage so much so crumbled up to all the airbags are deployed. there's glass everywhere and fire crews, the first responders. they had to use the jaws of life is intense power tools, too, break into the car and actually get the driver out of the car to get them to the hospital. and in fact, we've learned that driver was taken to a nearby trauma center in serious condition. then we have 2 other trucks involved in this crash. big trucks at that one. looks like some kind of construction truck and the other looks like a box truck. it's being towed right now. and we're told a driver in each of those trucks have been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening inj

i'm sara stinson reporting in moss landing. back to you. >> all right. another big concern tonight is, of course, where all of the smoke is going. yeah conference. chief meteorologist lawrence karnow has been tracking the wind conditions in monterey county. he's here now with the very latest, lawrence guys, if in fact it is burning in some of those batteries, those are a lithium-ion batteries. they've got some bad medals and they're very toxic out there as well. so concerned about some of the smoke conditions in there. right now. we're getting a little bit of a southerly component to some of those winds there. so you see moss landing care of that smoke eaking its way toward the north. you've got places like elkhorn, you've got laslo most and of course, a much larger populated area in watsonville. but some of that smoke, a travel all the way up. an app toss also in the santa cruz as well. so we're going to be watching that throughout the night tonight and early tomorrow morning. electrical fires with batters traditionally very hard to put out. right now.
