a great white shark has been spotted off stinson beach in marin county over the weekend.each will be closed to swimming. and surfing. until friday. a coast guard helicopter noticed the shark 200 to 300 yards from shore yesterday afternoon. a lifeguard says the shark appeared to be about 8 to 10 feet long. so you can wait but you can't go in. >>> -- you can wade but you can't go in. >>> another concern in the waters in the san francisco bay. in a first of its kind survey, the group clean water action found fast food restaurants and convenience stores are to blame for a lot of the trash that winds up in our waters. those retailers include mcdonald's, 711, and starbucks, most of the trash coming -- going into the bay after being blown out of urban creeks or storm drains. >>> we got sharks. we got a little bit of garbage. kind of hot. the trash doesn't scare me. the shark does get me out of the watter. >> i guess the beach is closed. they don't even want to you wade in there. >> the beach is closed. serious heat. >> and we will be right up there. we will get close in some spo

a shark warning is in effect at stinson beach. an offduty lifeguard captured video of a 10-foot great white shark near the breakers. beach goers dig into the hot weather, many are leaving windows open at home. >> i notice that since we moved out here, there hasn't been too many places that we lived that have had air conditioning, so we had to. >> an open window is an open invitation for burglars. >> if you need to leave it open for ventilation, leave it locked in a 1/4 inch position. it makes it difficult for burglars to get in the house. >> smog levels will be higher than what we're used to. the bay area quality district is asking everyone to drive less or not at all to ease that pollution. >> i officially give you p permission to wear loose clothing tomorrow. >>> there's a flood watch for the merced river in yosemite. with levels expected to peak wednesday at midnight. now, a park spokeswoman told us the river will rise to about 11 feet. flooding sidewalks and meadows. all the though you do need to be careful, the roads and the v

half moon bay, stinson beach stuck in the 50s. strong on-shore flow. and the wind was really blowing especially through the gate. gusting to 15, 18, 25 miles per hour. 30-mile-per-hour gusts at santa rosa. strong on-shore flow right now because we have a weak disturbance passing through extreme northern california. that's it. after this i think we're in for a stretch where high pressure dominates. high pressure's our friend. we're looking for warming temperatures. really after tomorrow, tomorrow really is looking a lot like today. a lot of clouds in the morning, breezy through the afternoon and coastal temperatures really don't warm that much. ahead, though, we're talking 80s and 90s. here's the setup for us. big high-pressure ridge offshore. this should have moved in about three weeks ago. we'll take its late arrival. that's just fine. low pressure moving out to the east. tomorrow we wake up to clouds. probably pretty thick. and it's going to be tough to burn off right along the coastline. but inland, temperatures will warm a few degrees. after tomorr

as you look toward the north bay, much cooler at the coast. 61 degrees stinson beach. 78 in san anselmo and 86 degrees in vallejo. next few days, temperatures will continue to come down. that cool marine air finally going to work its way inland by tomorrow bringing temperatures down to some much more comfortable 80s around the bay area. that cooling trend taking us below normal toward the weekend with more low clouds and fog on tap for the bay area and this looks fairly normal for this time year. that's a look at weather. let's check traffic with elizabeth. >> let's go to san jose because we still have a traffic alert in effect. coming up the guadalupe parkway northbound 87, it sounds like it's near san carlos street. that's actually northbound 87 -- it's close to 280 but it is blocking two lanes of the northbound 87 guadalupe parkway right there. it sounds like fire crews are on scene. this is an injury crash so could be out there for a while. chp did issue a traffic alert for that stretch. if you are coming out of downtown san jose, so far, so good. 280, 101, both fine along the penin
