the fire broke out just before 8:00 yesterday morning on stockton street in the heart of the city's chinatownrhood. it took firefighters nearly 6 hours to contain the blaze. red cross workers were on scene helping get those who were displaced into shelters. officials say the cause is still under investigation this morning. in the east bay. more than a hundred people gathered outside a mosque... to show opposition to the president's executive orders on immigration and travel. refugees being turned away, visas revoked and worry over america's perception around the world were the inspirations behind yesterday's demonstration. people representing many different religions formed a circle outside the walnut creek islamic center... they joined in prayer saying they stand in support of the wounded muslim communities across the country. we fall apart. shortly after the demonstration, local inter- faith leaders discussed how local groups are supporting the muslim community. the people who attended the rally say they will continue to call for love, peace and tolerance. water customers in the south bay m

this is happening near the rural town of manteca, south of stockton.ional weather service issued a flash flood warning in the area until 7:00 this morning. the breach has been fixed, but evacuations remain in place. a kron four viewer sent us these photos, showing the river rising near manteca. this is actually a park .. people who live in the area had been preparing since friday for the possibility that the river could overflow its banks. and the sacramento river is swollen and running strong, headed toward the delta. farm land is underwater this morning and we are hearing of some evacuations in the area due to flood concerns. even stretches of interstate 5 have been swamped in recent days because of the rising river. and for the first time in almost 10 years the water at lake berryessa rose high enough to drain into a massive vertical spillway. the vertical spillway is 72-feet wide and 200 feet deep. yesterday large crowds gathered to watch the water drain. but the rising water in the lake also forced people at a nearby campsite to evacuate. make sur

that fire breaking out just before 8-oclock this morning on stockton street in the heart of the city'sstoric chinatown neighborhood. kron 4's maureen kelly reports .. even as firefigthers were putting out the fire, other city agencies were stepping in to help the tenants and business owners. the two alarm fire was smoky as it was stubborn....taking firefighters 6 hours to contain.it broke out in the basement of this corner building....with business storefronts facing both stockton...and wrapping around the corner onto pacific. firefighter say what was in the basement made this a hard fire to combat.subdivided storage areas for all of these businesses, refrigerators heavy machinary and freezers and cabinets, tight turns with zero visability.so far they say nothing about the set up down below looked illegal....and at this point the fire doesn't appear suspicious but the investigation into the cause is still ongoing.red cross was on hand tending to the mostly senior residents of the 20 or so single occupancy units located on the upper floor.... making sure they get into temporary shelter
