here's your view from the east bay hills looking up at some mid-level stratus, some low stratus in some spots. now we do have sprinkles up towards sacramento. we had a mini stern solano county. look at all this activity for northern california right around lake tahoe on up towards reading. we've seen some spots a pretty heavy rainfall so far today. so something out there that if you are heading into the mountains, you want to consider bringing that rain jacket with you. high pressure on the out officially low pressure in and along with it. this cold front that swung through yesterday. i did notice that wind that pushed through the bay. thank you, breeze because you push out some of that smoke that was with us. and today we're looking at much better air quality, still breezy out of the delta keen as north bay mountains, little calmer for the south bay comparatively. and this is done a number on that. smoke cleaning it out, sweeping things up today. tomorrow into sunday, we're looking pretty solid with air quality. good, much more inviting to get outside. just bring that extra layer with

we've got dan stratus in place right now. but clearing skies this afternoon. this is your extended forecast. all in all. it's a pattern change. cooler weather draping the bay. but i really want to focus on next week around the same time friday into saturday. we're going to see a low pressure area centered up right here. again, this is 7 days away from now pushing on into the sierra nevada, resulting in the potential of some very high elevation snowfall at the crest of the sierra, depending on the track of this low, we may even see a shower or 2 come friday saturday of next week in the meantime, it's just a cool down today. the slightest sign of that cooler weather ahead of us. temperatures really only cooling one to 3 degrees today. coastal areas. you're going to be steady inland areas. that's where you'll start to notice this difference. more and more 70's and 80's for today's warmest of daytime highs. yesterday we saw some 90's today not seeing that as much union city hayward up to oakland at 70's livermore. you're still a 87. so it's still warm day for some

there's more that stratus coming right at us as we head through this holiday weekend. we're going to see looks like a slow rise in temperatures over the next couple days. no major heat wave on the horizon today. pretty pleasant out there. 60's along the coastline right now, 70 degrees. a nice evening in san jose. 76 in fremont 78 degrees and sunny in dublin. and 75 degrees right now in napa, the winds. yeah, they've been kicking up a bit. we've had some gusts over 30 miles an hour in the san francisco to see some of those. 33 34 miles an hour. and so, yeah, that healthy sea breeze blowing outside right now. but overall, the pattern really not all that bad, that low pressure center kind of scooting out of town, kind of muggy weekend throughout this week and almost a tropical feel to it. now that has moved on out. we saw the brought to the deserts there in nevada. now we're starting to see more of a typical pattern beginning to settle in. so this trough, though, it's going to kind of hang around. we're going to see one last wave of moisture swing through for tomorrow. an

we're seeing some high level clouds and we also have that stratus coming in from the with the marine layer. so here's what you need to know for today. the clouds linger. we still have the chance of isolated showers, but we're only talking about a 10 to 15% chance, mostly cloudy again overnight with drizzle possible, especially near the beaches. and then it's going to be sunnier for labor day. so that's better news. temperatures will warm up slightly inland. and here's a forecast animation. so this morning, we'll start to see some breaks in the cloud cover. and then this afternoon, we'll get some more breaks for the inland areas. but notice the clouds. stick around a lot. during the coast in the north bay, we could see another pop up shower there indicated by the green, some light rain showers at best. then tomorrow morning, we'll wake up with extensive, widespread low clouds. once again, we could see some drizzle along the beaches, maybe a little bit farther inland. and then look at how much more sunshine we get all over the north bay, east bay and most of the south bay. and that wil

we do have pretty much clear skies at the coast with a little bit of stratus developing here. temperature wise, 60 now in san francisco after 70 today, 73 degrees in livermore, low 70s in napa and sonoma, mid 60s for the most part around the peninsula. and these temperatures are pretty much cooler than 24 hours ago now. the winds have been breezy all day and fluctuating all over the place up to 15, 17mph. sfo now at 16 14 mile per hour winds. mountain view and mineta international airport. right now, the sun is beginning to set. so we're not getting great imagery. that's when it disappears. but look at that right there. it was really obvious earlier today. coastal eddie setting up for us off the coast. what does that mean? well, first off, in southern california, they call it a catalina eddy for us, coastal eddy. it ushers in the cooler air from the coast, from the beaches all the way into our inland areas. the eddy also contributes to the formation of patchy to dense fog and our air quality is decent. it's good visibility unlimited. next time around, we're going to talk about

you're sitting underneath that blanket of low stratus.and areas, you are seeing a pretty noticeable breeze on through the carquinez right around vacaville as you're crossing the benicia bridge, the carquinez bridge. you're going to notice that breeze that delta breeze transporting ocean, cool. they're right there into the delta. now, as far as the big picture set up goes high pressure really on its final legs right now, a series of low pressure areas start to build in and this is going to contribute to or cooler feeling forecast and to consistently so in the days to come, summer is ending a week early for a lot of spots. seems like extended forecast shows those areas of low pressure continuing to dip in bringing cool weather to us. but i'm really focusing on the tail end of next week because we've got a low and a strong one that drops in towards friday and saturday of next week, a whole week away from today. this could bring some of the first snowfall to the crest of the sierra and possibly even some light rain showers to the bay area. a

we've been seeing a lot more that low stratus that this morning, especially towards the coast and in the north bay. but we even saw some in san jose in along the bayshore starting to get a little brighter as the moments go by that high pressure ridge that's way out there on the far side of the screen that is going to build in a little more this weekend and will offer us temperatures climbing just a touch compared to where we have been. that's as close to a heat spike as we're getting. it's only going to take us to the low 90's that are very hottest. this forecast. it will be 60's and 70's in sf today. 60's at the coast and then 70's and 80's elsewhere. these numbers are pretty on par with our seasonal averages. so everything you're looking at out there is definitely nothing close to unheard of for this time of year. we're just really steady. not a lot of movement. but like i said, that does make it easy to plan out your week. activities. oakland at 73 today. well, our hottest spot being antioch at 88 degrees. now a look ahead. does show a gradual warming trend just a few degrees ever

so that's why yesterday you saw a few low stratus clouds but didn't really see a whole lot of the lowy across the bay north, the coastline keeps his cool at the coast while still warm enough to get outside and enjoy this forecast. and i had shorts and t-shirt on yesterday, although i like that cooler weather. so it doesn't take a lot for me to bring that out. futurecast shows you that we stay dry for the forecast this week. thursday, we do see some showers returning to the sierra nevada. now, last week i wanted to the potential of some showers for the bay area. fortunately, this low pressure area is going to be making its way a little to further east. so we'll stay dry for the bay. but you will see some showers for neighbors up in thea mountains up there. it's a bit of a good bit of good news for the sierra at the absolutely could use a few showers as of right now, 60's and 70's for your highs in san francisco. 60's at the coastline and looking at a lot of 70's along the bay shore as well as for a lot of our inland areas today is going to be a very pleasant feeling day across the bay.
