, governor strickland asked everybody to sacrifice. his own staff, everyone across the state had to sacrifice. public employees had to sacrifice. and everybody was in it together. now it's, there's an elite group that doesn't have to sacrifice at all. not only is it the, you know, his staff members, members of the legislative staff are getting raises and the legislature up to 33% raise for the republican staffers there, but also, they cut the estate tax in the state. so how can you cut the estate tax for the top 1% and come all these firemen here who are making 40,000 $50,000 a year who are trying to feed their families, send them to school, create a better future for them, yet at the same time you're going out of your way to cut taxes for the top wealthiest people in the state. it's ridiculous. >> there is no doubt that if the president gets this american jobs bill passed that it will benefit ohio. in fact, ohio will get the sixth highest amount of money than any other state and it will have a tremendous effect on teachers, on firefig

they blamed the 400,000 lost jobs to the governor, governor strickland. that was not fair. politics often isn't. as soon as they left office they went after collecting bargaining rights, women's rights, voting rights and rolling back what was once a consensus in our state and country. if you look at governor kasich's polling numbers, if you look at the number of petitions that were submitted a couple months ago to repeal, to do the referendum on the collective bargaining repeal, we needed 250,000, roughly, signatures. we turned in about 1.3 million. to the point the secretary of state's office, when the boxes of petitions were brought in had to bring in a structural engineer to make sure the floor could support the weight of the petitions. that's what activism has been. i've never seen anything in my state where this many people are upset and this many people are engaged in the political process who never were before. >> watching what you were describing there in ohio, watching things like that happen in places like wisconsin and other places where there's been real mobiliz

earlier on fox the former democratic governor of ohio ted strickland was basically saying this us is a perfect example of bad infrastructure that needs to be repaired. it's perfectly appropriate for the president to highlight it and it's perfectly appropriate to have republicans meet him halfway on it. >> there is a lot of infrastructure needs in ohio and across the country and i really believe this is one of the things that we could do that perhaps everyone could agree is important, to build our struck kwr-r. >> reporter: republican speaker john boehner said there are plans underway to fix this bridge, that it doesn't need the president's jobs plan to actually do that. according to the current plans the construction really won't get going, you'd have to deal with environmental impact studies, until the 2013 to the 2015. so is questioning whether it would be a serious impact on jobs. >> i've long supported replagues the bridge. i'm pleased the president is bringing attention to this much-needed project. you know, now is not the time for the president to go into campaign mode. >> repo
