[applause] >> thanks for having me.stryker, i'm an author based in york and i spent last couple of years of my life studying anonymity, first through similar stuff that parmy has been working on, studying anonymous and 4chan and the communities that have chosen to operate under the bill of anonymity for berries reasons for good and bad. yes. so i basically decide to talk about the history of anonymity and there's a couple of reasons. one, is because i think there are probably a lot of people in this audience who are of the opinion that if i do nothing but i have nothing to hide. this is a widespread opinion in american society, should buy a lot of my close friends and family before my book came out. so that book was kind of of dedicated to them but in any other reason is i've a personal role not to talk to much about technology when there's a guy with a ponytail talking after me. after the close we'll hear from ebay, netflix and stryker.rday verizon, travelers and johnson & johnson earnings dragged the dow down off some 44 points. the dow is below down by 21 points or so. the nasdaq at the moment is on fair value. the s&p yesterday which was up some five points at the moment is just a smidgen below fair value so fairly slight, slightly down for u.s. markets. ftse to the slow session, turned lightly more negative in europe. flat for the if ftse 100. the big news out of the uk was the unemployment data making a surprise tick down to 7.1%. remember the bank of england said in the summer we have a threshold target of 7% before we consider changing monetary policy. we're there a year earlier than the bank of england potentially thought. the ftse is up 0.25%. >>> here at the european, the world economic forum here in davos, participants are being encouraged to think beyond the crisis, but the question is, are we really ready for that here in europe? just take a listen to what some of the participants have been telling cnbc
