. >> reporter: it appears the more than 450 stuntss at lake elementary will be dispersed to school farther away this year. parents say they can't bear to lose the school. >> there's no way you can close the school. there's no way. >> it's like ripping the heart out of a community. >> reporter: lake was originally set to close two years ago because the financial strapped school district needed to save money, but the city stepped up. the mayor says they cannot help this time. >> we all really wish we could continue. the way the economy is right now, we can't. >> reporter: the school board says without the help of the city or another financial donor, the school will close in six months. >> we have to remain fiscally solvent. there are some things we have to do. we had to make tough choices. >> i don't understand why i'm working, i'm paying taxes, and where is my money? where is it? so please don't close this school. >> reporter: we're back live in front of lake elementary where the rally is still going on. tonight's school board meeting will discuss which school the lake students will attend
