i think asian community wants a successful city that is balanced. it but not always have to be the pocketbook, but they want a quality city. that is why they came here. it is about the richness of the city in general. do i want to keep living here? do i want to make my life here? that is on the minds of many asian families. i went to lunch with some sixth graders from alice fong. i said, do you want to be in the city? yes, i want to be in the city. they were asking me about twitter. they play some of the zynga games. they did not know that their headquarters were here, but they need to know that, growing up. we want the chinese companies to also use san francisco as their headquarters and to continue to be the gateway. people love that about the city. asian families, the matter their income -- they could be a hotel workers, garment workers, for ceo's, they all want -- or ceo's, they all want a quality city. my job is to make sure they trust government, so that when we say something, we do it. what i do not like it, and past relationships with the go

right thing here and not allowing rhetoric or politics to get in the way of being a safe city, a successful city, a city that knows how to come out of this economic challenge in a solid whey. we need your help to do that. i look forward to seeing you in city hall, not just in the rotunda, but when we have internship programs. by the way, when you go to college, make sure you applied to city hall and all of our 60 departments. you can get an internship at the public utilities commission, health department, department of the environment. there are a host of departments that offer internship programs. while you are of studying in college, in the summertime, even during the year, you can be an intern and learn even more about how the government works. then you can think about a career, whether in the public or private sector, there will be good choices in front of you if you are focused. now we can start with identifying all of you won this year's fellowship award. you are on your way to very good foundation. through the concentration of efforts and reorganization of resources, we have been successful in reducing crime city-wide by about 6% over last year. this can be attributable, obviously, with the help we get from the community and other agencies, but also due to 60% of the traffic been decentralized to stations. 40% of motorcycle lawyers work downtown. 50% of the honda unit work on part and the control. there were teams volunteering to go nights and weekends. you have to remember that is in addition. in the past, we have taken from patrol to create special things within patrol. that is fishing from the same bucket. these officers were not working nights and weekends. they were outside of patrol. when you put 35 to 40 knowledgeable officers -- it is akin to putting an academy class on night. we lose people to retirement. having officers of this caliber go nights and weekends is on top of what we already had. hopefully in mid-october, we will have the offices open. you can find people moving through the hall of justice as we create the special victims unit of the san francisco police department, conso
