diane cho is live in suitland with that video. it's new at 4:00 today. diane? >> well alison it happened right here in this parking lot as the victim was walking out to meet her son. within seconds, we see the suspect pushing her down to the ground grabbing her across the parking lot here before he eventually took off running down the street. we want to show you that surveillance video from 2013 when this happened at the gas station that the victim owned back then. prosecutors say she was walking to her son's s.u.v. at the time to take some money to the bank. you see the suspect running across the parking lot trying to grab the money out of her hands breaking her hip in the process. and surveillance video, you can see the victim's son trying to help his mother. prosecutors say he stopped when he saw the suspect was armed with a gun. what you don't see in this video is the suspect jumping into a getaway car driven by michael hall and he was just sentenced to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit a robbery. >> and that's why a case li

avenue about a block and a half north of suitland parkway and that's where mike kaneen is live with the very latest. mike? >> alison it's a very preliminary information in this investigation is that one of the officers responding to that armed robbery may have fired a shot into a barber shop here on the 2400 block of martin luther king jr. avenue injuring a man and a bystander who happened to be inside that store. in fact i spoke to an employee of that store, sylvester burton by phone and told me eight to nine people were inside of this incident and the man who was shot is in his early 20's and was a regular at that barber shop and we move our camera over here into the street where the scene is being cleared and i'll detail what led up to this shooting. but this is a suspect's vehicle that police say not a far distance from here there's a shop where there is a robbery that was reported when the shop's owner ran into the streets and flagged down officers. they then pursued this suspect's vehicle according to chief lanier. the suspect vehicle then she is got stuck in traffic on this block

whether the thefts could be connected to some similar break-ins at national and lincoln cemeteries in suitland last smotherummer. >> right now, we have no indication to believe there is an organized ring of sorts. however, we are looking into this particular incident and all of the other cases. >> reporter: thieves have preyed on mourners here at ft. lincoln cemetery in brentwood more than a dozen times, just in the last year. stealing valuables at a time when people are already hurting. >> i think that's ludicrous. it just shows the lack of characteristics and character and diminishing attitudes of individuals today. >> reporter: the last theft happened december 14th. a woman who was here for burial services had her purse stolen from her car. take a look at this surveillance photo. police say this woman used the victim's credit card for a shopping spree. a spokeswoman for the cemetery tells me they have hired off-duty police officers to provide security. they have added surveillance cameras, and they're going to be posting signs in the cemetery warning people to keep their valuables with them

host: sean from suitland, maryland, and independent. caller: i wanted to ask for congressman about social security and the disabled. democrats recently stated that there was something within the house rules that messed with social security payments. -- with social security payments to the disabled. i wanted to know if that was true and if not, what is the plan? guest: that's a great question. the social security trust fund is going to go bankrupt before the end of next year. it is not because of anything republicans did. it is because the president has decided to load the rolls up with people who are not truly disabled. you can ask almost any american and they will tell you they know somebody who is on social security disability that should not be. because of that, the system is going to go bankrupt. what the democrats would like to do is go back and raid the social security retirement fund, the fund you are counting on when you turn 65 or 67 or whatever so that you can have social security benefits. they want to raise that to shore up
