they decided randomly to shoot up another car on suitland parkway which happened to be driven by an off-duty d.c. policewoman and then it got worse. >> both d.c. and prince george's county officers came to the scene in far northeast where carjackers who shot a d.c. detective four times crashed into a fence. that after a chase that led from d.c. into maryland and back. police caught this suspect but two others got away. the deputy mayor for public safety described three scenes. first suitland near alabama avenue when the suspects struck an off duty policewoman's car with several bullets. >> her vehicle was struck and then she followed this vehicle, the perpetrator's vehicle in an effort to get the tag. >> next they drove to pennsylvania and southern and saw an off duty police detective in his suv. >> they tried to carjack it and at that time that the suspect came into the perpetrator's vehicle ramming it. >> they then fled that scene with the wounded detective and the female officer who tracked them in pursuit. the chase ended in the 5500 block of hunt place northeast. this was fourth attempt
