sun trust is paying up big to settle the government's investigation into its mortgage practices.s get to nicole petallides on the floor of the new york stock exchange with the reaction. >> reporter: that's right. sun trust now joins many of the other financial names that we follow so closely, and this is now after investigations done by the department of justice. sun trust will be paying $968 million to resolve mortgage servicing, origination and foreclosure probes x this is according to the u.s. justice department. the other thing that's worth noting is that the settlement itself includes $500 million in release to consumers -- relief to consumers. as i noted, $1 billion for mortgage origination practices, sun trust joins so many of the other financial firms such as jpmorgan, bank of america, wells fargo. citigroup is actually working on that right now, joining along to go ahead and pay this off to the government and, ultimately, to some the consumers as well. the stock right now took a little wit of a dip here -- little bit of a dip here you can see on that intraday. the dropof
