we're seeing clear skies out there this evening as the sun goes down over the santa clara valley. the next several days, clear and cool, chilly through the rest of tonight, plenty of sunshine tomorrow, warms back up to average or slightly above average temperatures. we'll stay quiet through thursday and then the beginning of this unsettled weather pattern will kick in beginning on friday. there's a beautiful sunset as we look towards the golden gate from the mark hopkins hotel, 50s and 60s, everybody between 55 degrees in san francisco and 60 degrees in a few locations. those temperatures were slightly above average today and will be again for the next few days. let's look where our low temperatures end up tomorrow with mostly clear skies overhead. we'll drop off quickly temperatures will drop to around or below freezing for much of the north bay, 31 degrees in petaluma and fairfield. the cold spot is livermore dipping down to 30 degrees by early tomorrow morning, a mix of upper 30s and low 40s around the bay and the santa clara valley temperatures dropping to the 30s on a widespr

the fog will dissipate, having an impact on how much you'll warm up or the sun will breakthrough faster like the santa clara valley. by tomorrow afternoon, a couple of degrees above normal. and also above 60 degrees. at 60 degrees. and cooler a, a mix of upper 50s and the lower 60s as well with the fog hanging on just a little bit longer in those locations, compared to other inland parts of the bay area. in terms of the haze on the horizon, that's not likely to go anywhere. we either need rain or stronger winds to stir the atmosphere around and disperse the ground level pollution. winds will pick up on monday, develop once again, not likely to be problematic around the bay area, although southern california could be a different story once again. that should help stir up the atmosphere, goat our air quality to improve for a couple of days by tuesday and wednesday. things are starting to trend in a more hopeful direction. the signal is the 8 to 14-day outlook, which will take us to the end of january. wetter than normal conditions for the bay area and most of the coast of california. and at least it's showing a tren

may be cold enough for some patchy frost, especially up in those north bay valleys. 30s and low 40s to start. then, as the sunaks through the low cloud cover, we get back into the hazy skies. 60s in reach around san jose, but still a little bit chilly in the east bay valleys back acrs the bay. highs on sunday, mostly in the mid to upper 50s. now the winds will start to pick up generally after midnight tomorrow night. you see 11:00. not much happening yet. and then as we head towards 5 a.m, wind speeds starting to pick up and these areas here in red, in the mountains of the north bay and probably around the diablo range, could have some gusts from about 25 to 45mph, but not as much down in the lower elevations. so it will be breezy and dry for your monday, but nothing too strong around the bay area. but unfortunately, it's a different story again in southern california as strong santa ana winds pick up as we head into monday night and tuesday, you see these numbers 40 to 50 mile per hour gusts from malibu inland towards santa clarita. this is out towards ventura county and northwestern l.a. county. these condi

are going to warm up pretty effectively as well, the dry air heating up as the sun comes up, low 60s in the north bay valleys, the exception along the coast where temperatures only reach the mid-50s, upper 50s for san francisco, temperatures reaching up into the mid-60s on the warm end in san jose. pretty similar temperatures are in store for us heading into wednesday and thursday and then more cloud cover starts to arrive friday. there are some differences, though, in the long range forecast models in terms of our specific rain chances. let's look at the rain chart. at best, we're looking at about a 50/50 chance of showers beginning late friday continuing saturday into sunday and monday. it's not a higher chance because the way things are set up. the farther north you go it's a much better rain chance and the farther south you go not much more than a couple sprinkles. really nothing to speak of in the santa clara valley. in the southern half of the bay area, just a few hundredths inch of an rain. farther north about a half inch of rain in napa, over three-quarters inch in santa rosa. it's one version of one

30s and low 40s around the bay and along the coast and 30s in the santa clara valley as well, but without any fog, the sun will work warming up the atmosphere. we'll be back to the mid-60s in san jose, 64 degrees, 4 degrees above average, the warm spot across the bay area, only mid-50s along the coast because that marine influence will start to return. we'll see a little fog start to sneak in by this time tomorrow evening, but most of the day we'll be sunny with temperatures topping out as a mix of upper 50s and low 60s across the region. the next rain chance doesn't head our way till the end of the workweek. let's look at the day-by-day rain chances. it's not off the charts, about 50/50 by late friday continuing through the weekend because of the nature how this sets up. the farther south you go, you're not going to get much rain at all in the santa clara valley. the farther north you go it's going to be much more substantial in the north bay and look at futurecast as we add the rain up through the weekend into early next week. it's kind of an all or nothing pattern. the nothing decide of this would be a
