breaking news out of sunnyvale. we've learned that a 4-year-old has fallen out of a fourth story apartment complex. the details not really clear. marianne favro joins us live. did he fall off the balcony, a window, what do we know? >> reporter: well, unfortunately, we still have a lot of unanswered questions. we just a hierrived here at the apartment complex on poplar avenue in sunnyvale. earlier this afternoon, a 4-year-old did fall from this four-story apartment building. now, what we don't know yet is whether that was a young boy or a young girl. but we do know that that 4-year-old child was taken by ambulance with injuries to a local hospital. right now, you can see that police are processing this scene. right now, there's no sign of foul play. but this is standard protocol that police process the scene. especially when involving a minor. unfortunately, we don't know how that young child is doing at this time. we also don't know if the child fell off a balcony or perhaps leaned against a winnow. these are all th

happened at the sunnyvale fairways complex off camino real. that's where we find abc news reporter jobina fortson. of course we're pulling for this little boy. what do we know about his condition? >> yes, 4 years old. as of last night was listed in serious condition after he was taken from the apartment complex here at sunnyvale fairways. i did reach out to the sup vail department of public safety this morning and the officer on duty told me he did not have any further updates on the child's condition beyond last night. around 5:00 p.m. yesterday the boy fell from the fourth story of the apartment building. investigators were taking measurements of the balcony and building late into the night. the man who called 911 says he lives on the first floor and was with his family when he heard has loud thud from outside when he found the 4-year-old boy unconscious but breathing on their balcony. >> i heard a sound and looked down and there was a kid on the balcony. we weren't sure which apartment or whom it belonged to. so i saw he was bleeding. i cal

(philippe) between interstate 380 in san bruno to state route 237 in sunnyvale along highway 101... the california department of transportation says express lanes are coming. and, they will be available both north and southbound by the year 20-22. cal-trans broke ground on the project friday in san mateo. cal-trans says it will build new lanes for the project and convert existing carpool lanes. the express lanes will span a total of 32-miles. the new lanes are intended to alleviate congestion on the busy stretch of roadway. cal-trans says some two million drivers rely on this part of the freeway every week. the estimated cost of the project is 567-million dollars. cal-trans says this project is apart of a broader vision to bring the network of express lanes in the bay area to 600 miles by the year 2035. in san mateo, philippe djegal, kron four news.
